Mormon customs throughout the world do not vary widely. In fact in my travels around the world, the church is one big family which welcomes you as one of their own. Most of the major national and Christian holidays are celebrated Christmas, Easter, New Years when ever oit occurs, and nation's founding, and personal birthdays. Mormons dress up for Sunday services. When traveling, casual, modest clothing is normal. For other activities, any modest attire is acceptable. There are occasional "theme" activities with approprite dress.

Leon answered…
We dress 'up' for church, as it is indeed worship. While common knowledge as to intents and former traditional meanings of holidays are passed down, we still find abilities to strengthen family bonds, neighborly assistance and good-will, and renew our dedications to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are careful how much time and effort we place on the holiday, seeking to avoid burden of financial or differing beliefs. All such customs, beliefs, and general questions are answerable through missionaries including this web-site.

Members of the Church celebrate Christmas and Easter because it's significant because of the birth, suffering, death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Also celebrate the regional and national holidays of the countries where they live. Also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and similiar events.

The normal clothing for Church services is slacks, a white shirt and tie (maybe a suit jacket too) for men and and nice dresses or modest skirts for women. We dress like this out of respect for the Lord's sabbath day and to show how important worship services are to us.
We have two religious holidays - Christmas and Easter. These are important because they are the two endpoints of Christ's mortal life. Christmas is the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and Easter represents his suffering, death, and resurrection. Beyond these, Mormons are free to celebrate whatever holiday they would like, from patriotic holidays to historic holidays to birthdays and so on.

For me, the way I dress for church and other church related activities reflect how I feel about my relationship with God. If I am casual in my dress, I am casual in my relationship with God. I love him and want to show him respect, so I dress to show him how I feel.
I celebrate all the standard holidays: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving etc. I guess Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving are the most important to us though. They are the ones that remind us of Christ and bring us together as families.

Members of the Church enjoy a wide variety of customs and traditions. Events centered on Jesus Christ, such as Christmas and Easter are dear to us. We also enjoy dance festivals. In the sumer of 2010 we had an event at Bellevue College where youth of the church exhibited dance moves from around the world. I hope as the Church grows we'll see more cultural expressions.

We try to dress nice when we go to Church, we enjoy getting together. We certainly celebrate holidays, especially Christmas. Mormons are mostly quite patriotic as well. They enjoy doing things as families. Growing up, scouting and girl's camp are a part of our youths' lives. Older members might serve a mission together with their spouse, or attend the temple quite frequently. Then there's the green jello at Ward dinners - just had to add that one in.

Mormons wear our best to church, which is anything from dress shoes and socks with slacks and a business shirt and tie to a suit. We do not overly dress as to draw attention to ourselves, but wear nice clothing that is at the same time humble, per the requirements of the gospel.

Lara answered…
On Sundays, we dress in a way to show reverence for our Heavenly Father. Men wear shirts and ties and are clean, neat, and groomed. Women wear dresses or skirts. Both men and women strive to be modest, which means being clean and put together - plus women wear outfits with sleeves that are not overly revealing.
We celebrate many of the same holidays as other denominations - we celebrate the birth of the Savior at Christmas and his Resurrection at Easter. There are also many Mormons who celebrate other holidays informally such as Valentines Day, St. Patricks Day, Halloween, and Pioneer Day, a day that people remember the Pioneers and their trek across the plains so many years ago.
Many people also may joke about Mormons and their abilities to cook amazing casseroles, crazily creative jello concoctions, and "funeral potatoes"...this is not a requirement for being a Mormon for sure, but there are plenty of members who do have some amazing cooking skills!!! :

When we go to church we wear what we say as "Sunday best" for men this is white shirt, tie and black slacks or other conservative colors. Women, skirts, nice shirts and other apparel that is moddest and respectful to be wearing while in the church/chapel. For holidays we celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, Easter, News Year (although we don't drink alcohol to celebrate) and other regional holidays that happen where you live. In addition to national holidays we celebrate birthday's and anniversaries.

When we attend Sunday services, men and boys wear a dress shirt and tie with slacks. Women wear a dress or blouse and skirt.
We celebrate most Christian holidays. Christmas and Easter are celebrated with a concentration on the Savior but we also incorporate the traditions of Santa and the Easter Bunny. Many congregations celebrate Halloween by hosting a "Trunk-or-Treat". All are invited to decorate the trunk of their cars and dress up in costume (sans mask) and trick-or-treat at all the cars in the parking lot.

Good question! The church building is very welcoming and usually very busy on Sundays, as several "wards" or groups usually share the same building. The men usually wear shirts and ties and the women wear skirts or dresses (modesty is important!). As far as holidays go, we definitely celebrate Christmas and Easter because these times of year are special reminders of the life and mission of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We also celebrate birthdays and other holidays customary to the United States or whatever country we are in.

-
Scott R. answered…
I characterize my sacred holidays as about a Christian as the next guy. Christmas is spent with my family. We share gifts, have family dinners, and visit friends. Christmas services are held the Sunday prior to the 25th. No services are held on the 24th or 25th unless it is Sunday. It follows the Churches emphasis on family time. You will also hear the traditional nativity with the addition of the signs of His birth in the Americas as recorded in the Book of Mormon. Easter is similar--family time, and a special Sunday service. One thing that you'd notice at Easter services is the emphasis on the resurrection of Christ rather than the crucifixion. The crucifixion is important, but Christ's power over death is a gift that is given to all of us and more focus is given to that part of His mission. You will also hear the story of his visit to the Americas immediately after his resurrection and ascension in the Holy Land.

Every Sunday I dress to impress! I dress in skirts and nice tops or dresses that cover my shoulders and my thighs - but I still dress with style! You can definitely show your personality, be cute, and still be modest in our church - contrary to misconceptions that we might dress homely or uniformly.
And in my little family, we celebrate EVERY Holiday! Christmas, Fourth of July, Easter, and one of my favorite things to do on Halloween is go out to my local church building or ward, as we call it and pack my car trunk with candy to hand out to adorable little kids dressed in cute Halloween costumes! Christmas and Easter and Mothers Day are some really wonderful holidays that we celebrate in our church and we always have the best talks during our meetings during those Holidays!

Sunday is the Sabbath, and if you're old enough to remember "Sunday Best", that is most appropriate for church. As long as the clothing is modest, you will not feel uncomfortable at our services. We renew our commitments to be disciples of Christ each week by partaking of the sacrament, We dress in a manner that demonstrates respect and love for the Savior.

when we attend church we try to wear our best. woman usually dont wear pants or shorts. we usually wear dresses or skirts. we also dress modestly. the men usually wear dress pants with a white shirt and tie. we only go to church once a week so it isn't much to dress up to go to church. as members of the church we celebrate all the holidays. we are just like "normal" families that enjoy a little trick or treating or singing christmas songs or having a valentine. if a holiday does end up being a sunday then it is usually a family decision whether or not to celebrate but we try to keep sundays a Sabbath day.

So when we go to church I dress up in a white shirt and tie. I do it because It helps me set Sunday apart from the other days of the week so that it means more to me. Michael answered…
While some churches have adopted a "casual Friday" dress custom for worship services, Mormons keep to the old "Sunday best" standard. The idea is to show reverence and respect for the Lord and the tokens of His body and blood, without distracting our fellow worshipers. Dresses and blouses and skirts for the ladies; white shirts, ties, and slacks for the gentlemen. No need to be overly ostentatious in appearance, however--this isn't a day at the races or a black-tie dinner. The standard is within the reach of all regardless of personal wealth. Furthermore, what constitutes "church dress" may vary by national tradition.
As for holidays, we are a cheerful, happy people who love each other and thus embrace any reason for a party, gathering, and most of all good food! Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Fourth of July, birthdays, wedding anniversaries...we do them all, typically with gusto. In addition, especially in Utah, "Pioneer Day" (July 24) is a big deal, being the anniversary of the arrival of the first Mormon pioneer company to the Salt Lake valley.
Another Mormon custom you might have heard about is called "Family Home Evening" (FHE for short--we have a nice collection of acronyms). Each and every Monday night, we are very strongly encouraged to not schedule any other meetings or activities, as this time is reserved for family togetherness--a structured time of family bonding. Typically this will include singing hymns, offering prayers, conducting family business (my family would plan the weekly dinner menu and calendar at this time), giving some kind of lesson, playing a fun game or such like that, and refreshments. Most families rotate these assignments so that every family member can participate in a different way from week to week. And most FHE's end up being more chaotic than the tranquil ideal portrait I just gave. Just being realistic, ya know. I remember much more clearly, and with more fondness, the FHE's in my youth that disintegrated into puddles of giggling and silliness. But the important thing is that you're together, and you bond, and you make memories for a lifetime.
Mormon customs also include daily family prayer, daily family scripture-reading, and daily family meals.

Stephen Vincent answered…
For church each Sunday, we were our "Sunday best." We are there to worship Jesus Christ, so we want to dress in a way that shows reverence for Him. Typically, that means a shirt, jacket, and tie for a man; a modest dress or skirt for a woman. Children also typically dress up for Sunday. But if you don't have and can't afford those kind of clothes, your best clothes will suffice; after all, it's the respect your clothes show for the Savior that matters.
Church members recognize and celebrate Christmas and Easter. For Christmas, we have presents, Christmas trees, Christmas carols and candy canes. For Easter, we're known to put together a pretty good Easter egg hunt. So basically, there is little difference between the way we celebrate those holidays and the way other Christians celebrate those Holidays, i.e., Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the Savior, and Easter is about reverencing Christ's Resurrection.
As for other Holidays, we celebrate birthdays, we go trick or treating, we set off fireworks for the Fourth of July, take our special someone out for a nice dinner on Valentine's Day, we barbecue on Labor Day. Really, our holidays are normal with one exception: St. Patrick's Day. We wear green that day, but our drinks are much more tame than the usual St. Patrick's Day drinks.

Mormon customs aren't that much different from any other religion. Women wear skirts or dresses that come to the knee to church. We avoid wearing anything sleeveless. For church we believe that, as a sign of respect to Heavenly Father, we should dress in nice, clean apparel. The women wear dresses or skirts that reach their knees and shirts or jackets that cover their shoulders and the men wear white shirts and suits or dress slacks.
We celebrate all major Christian holidays as do other religions: Easter, Christmas and other "fun" holidays such as New Year's Eve or St. Patrick's Day in addition to many others.

Charlotte answered…
I have heard people of other faiths say we dress up on Sunday because we want to show that we are better than others, but that is not the reason at all. We dress in our best clothes as a form of respect and reverence to our Lord. We don't dress in really formal wear like a tuxedo or in casual wear because it draws attention to us rather than to the purpose for our Sunday meeting, that or worshiping. The Bible say that we should be a light to the world that others might see our good works and glorify our Father in Heaven. By dressing in our Sunday best and not drawing attention to ourselves with our clothing or hair styles, we are truly worshiping and allowing others to also worship without distraction.

dress for church is your typical sunday best. a modest button up shirt and tie for the men most likely, and modest dresses and skirts for the wemon.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we advocate modesty. Modesty, is a clear sign of respect for one's body and humility of the gift God has given to us.
We don't wear revealing, extreme designs or anything that would distract from the spiritual expierence of others or for ourselves. This does not mean that we are all dress the same or look a like, but we take pride in how we present ourselves at church or in any setting.
With that being said, the church is a welcoming place. It is more important that you are there to receive the blessings and lessons that are taught than to not come because of how you look or how you think others will see you. We truly care and love every person that comes through those doors.
We love holidays. They are so fun and full of family activities. We celebrate them and appreciate them so much. They often allows us to think of Jesus Christ and of family.

Jessica answered…
Members of the LDS Church strive for modesty and cleanliness when it comes to Sunday church meetings. For the women, skirts and dresses that are appropriate in length and blouses/jackets that don't reveal too much are the best options. For the men, clean, white shirts with appropriate ties work great. Also nice sweaters and clean dress pants and shoes are usually the norm. However, the Lord is no respecter of persons. If you feel that what you are wearing is your best, that should be good enough for any Church function. You should be comfortable, but also respectful of the Lord and his meetinghouse.
To Mormons, Christmas and Easter are the two main holidays that we revere the most, as one signifies the Savior's birth and the other His resurrection and power over death. However, Mormons celebrate many other special days: birthdays, anniversaries, and other holidays, such as Valentine's Day.

Many of our customs are just like most other people. We typically dress in nice, clean clothes for church to show our love for the Lord and to help us be in a spiritual mood. However, people are welcome to come in anything that is modest. We celebrate basically every holiday. We don't have holiday traditions that are particularly different from other people. We do try to place an emphasis on Christ for religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter, but we still exchange gifts and do Easter Egg hunts, etc. We also try to have a custom of service. We believe in helping those in need and giving of ourselves. Hopefully, as you associate with members of the Church, you will find them helpful, friendly, and courteous.

We dress like normal people, I personally like a good pair of Car-harts work pants and a T-shirt though at Church I try to dress in a clean white button up shirt and a good pair of slacks, and I usually ditch the tie when I can. I celebrate Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, Birthdays, New Years, etc. My custom is that I'm willing to try most things at least once if it's not putting against the commandments given to me by Christ. Though don't try to get me skydiving or bungee jumping, I just might try kill you in self defense, I'm deathly afraid of heights.

Dressing for church should be a reflection of our reverence and respect for God. We dress modestly in our “Sunday Best”.
Mormons celebrate the two main Christian holidays of Easter and Christmas, which mark the resurrection and birth of Christ, respectively. They also celebrate national and regional holidays, along with birthdays and anniversaries.
Pioneer Day, celebrated on July 24 of each year, celebrates the first entry of Mormons into Salt Lake Valley in 1847, after the long journey westward to escape religious persecution.
April 6th is observed in remembrance of the organization of the Church of Christ in 1830 by Joseph Smith.

We dress nicely for church, which usually means skirts/dresses for women with nice shoes, suits or trousers with nice shirts and ties for men. Dressing in this way shows respect for the Lord and His chapel, and helps us maintain a reverent attitude.
We celebrate the "usual" holidays which, in America at least, include New Year's, Easter, Mother's and Father's Days, Memorial Day, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We also have a holiday on the 24th of July called "Pioneer Day," which celebrates the Mormon pioneers' first arrival in the Salt Lake Valley.

When we go to Church we call it our Sunday best. Men wear white shirts, ties and suits if they have them. Otherwise slacks and dress shoes - - tennis shoes are fine, too. We would rather have you come than buy expensive clothes. Girls and women wear dresses or skirts that come to the knee or down to the floor. If they wear a spaghetti top, they wear a blouse underneath with short or long sleeves, and a modest neckline. Jewelry should be inconspicuous, and both men and women's hairstyles should be neat and becoming. As a Church we celebrate the Relief Society Birthday, Easter, General Conference twice a year, the Priesthood Commemoration, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Pioneer Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. As inidividuals, wards and branches we also have parties with themes around other holidays that may include Valentines day, 4th of July - or national holiday, Halloween, and others.

We celebrate all sorts of holidays! Mormons probably make a bigger deal of some holidays than most people. We have food and entertainment. Most Mormons also celebrate Pioneer Day, which comerates the completion of the Mormon pioneers first trek across the plains. Since that is part of the history of the Church, it is even celebrated in areas unconnected with pioneers as part of our cultural heritage.

When I attend Sunday church services, or when I go to the temple to worship, I wear a dress or a blouse and skirt. I wear dressier shoes and style my hair. I do this because worshiping my Heavenly Father and Savior is very important to me, and I want to show respect to God in my dress as well as my actions. Every other day of the week I can dress as I choose - pants, shorts, t-shirts, sneakers - whatever I feel comfortable in.
My family and I celebrate Christmas and Easter as all other Christians do. We celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. We also celebrate traditional American holidays, like July 4th and Thanksgiving. One holiday that is unique to our church is Pioneer Day on July 24th. This holiday celebrates the day the Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake valley on July 24th, 1847. We usually celebrate this holiday as a congregation with barbeques and picnics, music, and games. In Utah, they have an annual parade in Salt Lake City.
My family has a weekly family night, called Family Home Evening. Every Monday night we sing songs, play games, and have some kind of lesson about gospel principles, loving and serving each other, or some other topic we feel we should discuss. We give our family nights high priority and rarely attend other activities on Monday nights, but we never kick anyone out of our house when it's time for Family Home Evening. Everyone is included!

When I was learning about the church... this was my big question too... I didn't wan to live a life where I needed to dress like a prarie girl and grow my hair long and wear pigtails! :) I still dress the same way I did before I was a church memeber, but I am a little more careful to make sure that I am always neat and modest. Its important to me to live this way. I am still able to dress in a modern way, I buy clothes right of the rack! No hand-made prarie dresses. I have, however, learned to sew! So in the event we wouldnt' be able to buy from a store, I can still clothe my family. (NOT that they would be the height of fashion, but they would be covered!!! HAHAHA!)
And YES! Ladies.. you can still wear makeup...
I love Christmas. I love it even more than I did as a child. Then it was all about me me me.... what presents did I get... etc... Now, Christmas is about Christ! My faith has so many beautiful ways to center on Christ during the Christmas Season! We still have presents and kids running aound like nuts with new toys.... There is just SUCH a Deeper more HOLY feeling to the Holidays when you center your life around Christ our Savior and Heavenly Father.
We do celebrate birthdays... (I wish we didn't though! Because I just hit 30!!! EEEEEEK!) We have cake and presents and go to dinner and live just like everyone else. I just believe that living this way, with a direct connection to our Father in Heaven and with Christ as an Elder Brother we can be better selves.

In order to venerate God, members of the LDS church attend worship services on Sundays in our "Sunday best." It doesn't have to be fancy, but rather reverent clothing. Typically women and girls wear a blouse and skirt and the men and boys wear dress shirts and ties with dress pants and shoes. Often these dress shirts are white, but they don't have to be.
Members of the LDS church live in cultures and countries all across the globe! We celebrate many different holidays. In my family, Christmas, Halloween and Independence Day are two of our favorite holidays. We love spending time together and serving others on Christmas, dressing up and trick-or-treating on Halloween and lighting off fireworks on Independence Day! It is a great time to spend together as family and friends.

I'm in Sydney Australia as I write this. Church services here are in a downtown office building. I put on a white shirt and tie - but lots of people when traveling just put on their nicest clothes - whatever that is. All are welcome. But it's respectful of the Savior when attending to just be as neat and clean as you can.
So, I took a shower, tied a tie and walked to the services. It's nice when traveling the world to attend services because you have instant friends anywhere you go. Next Sunday I'll be in Cairo, Egypt where it's a bit different. Church there will be on Friday to respect local customs and laws. Also, I am forbidden from talking about the Church to my Egyptian friends. One of the Church's Articles of Faith is that we obey, honor and sustain the laws of the land. So long as Egyptian law says we cannot openly talk about our religion, we will honor that - while praying that it might change so we can share this wonderful message with everyone.

About Mormon customs, we don't do anything out of the ordinary that most Christian churches do. As far as dressing for church, the men wear shirt and tie and dress pants, most wear suits, but it's not mandatory. Women wear dresses or skirts and blouses. Kids are neatly dressed and don't have to wear dresses(girls) or ties(boys). We accept anyone no matter how they are dressed. What's important is that you are there worshiping the Saviour. We celebrate all holidays like Christmas and Easter. We are part of our community and celebrate local holidays as well. Probably the biggest difference is how we act on Sundays, the Sabbath day. We don't shop or participate in activities that detract from the sacredness of the Sabbath day. We spend time with family and rest on Sunday (after Church)

Now, as odd as this may sound, we are just normal people living normal lives, there is nothing really that I find different that we do that others don't do. Dress for church I dress in my best out of respect for God, because isn't that who we are going to worship at church, so in other words I would dress how I would want to be dressed if I where to go and stand in front of him that day. Holidays, really I try and celebrate as many as I possibly can in a way it is just another way for us to be grateful for what it is that God has given us...freedom. life, leaders willing to sacrifice everything they can for us, our Savior and Redeemer.

Well we celebrate most of the same holidays as everyone else, we don't celebrate Hanukkah or Kwanza, but we celebrate Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and any national holidays that other countries have. When it comes to Christmas and Easter, we like to think more about their spiritual significance then Santa and the Easter Bunny, but we still give gifts and hide eggs. When it comes to church dress, we wear our Sunday Best which includes suit pants, dress shoes, white shirts and ties, and sometimes sports coats for men, and for women a dress, or skirt and shirt that are nicer and follow standards of modesty, so they go to your knees, cover your shoulders, front and back. Everyone gets dress up, even little kids, although generally they don't have to wear as nice of Sunday cloths, the little boys may were khaki pants and sweaters, while the girls may were jean jumpers and cute little shirts. We also tend to not wear clothing with distracting pictures or logos on it, as it is the Lords day not a day to show off your Abercrombie shirt.

Ever since I was a young boy, I was taught to dress my best for church on Sunday. My mother always made sure that I had a clean pressed white shirt to wear with my suit and tie. As I grew older I began to press my own white shirts and continue this process every Sunday. I dress my best because at church we go to partake of the Lords sacrament. Through this sacred opportunity we can renew the covenants we make with the Lord. As I partake of the sacrament, I enjoy feeling that I have dressed properly for that sacred ordinance.

As an anthropologist, this is an interesting question. While LDS doctrines are the same around the world, the culture of Mormonism is very different depending on what country you live in. Overall, American Mormons are very concerned with obedience, community, and family. They make great efforts to work hard, have faith, and serve others. These behaviors often transfer into their professional and personal lives. For example, they are usually ambitious at work, wear their nicest outfits to church on Sunday, and the neighbors on the block with freshly mowed lawns. In the true American spirit, Mormons are a melting pot of educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.

Although the activities, gatherings, and meetings that we attend can vary, we always strive to conduct ourselves in a manner that is respectful of our Heavenly Father, our beliefs, our relationships with each other, and the covenants (promises) we have made. Part of this pertains to the clothing we wear, the language we use, and even how we devote our time.
We believe in dressing modestly - that is, dressing in a way that is respectful to the sacred nature of our bodies, which are gits to us from our Heavenly Father. For church services, we are asked to wear clothing that helps us show and maintain respect for God. Although it can very slightly depending on ones culture, here in the United States it usually entails wearing a dress (for women) and a suit or slacks with a button up shirt and tie (for men). This kind of clothing helps us maintain a feeling of reverence and respect for our church meetings.
We love the special holidays that we have throughout the year, especially those that have religious significance like Christmas and Easter. We also celebrate our national holidays, such as Independence Day, and Thanksgiving. We are a festive people!

We dress in our very best clothes for church - suits or dress pants for men, skirts and dresses for women. Everything should be clean, pressed, and modest to show our respect for our bodies.
We celebrate all the major holidays, including those that are specific to our state or nation. We're generally pretty patriotic people! Easter and Christmas are the two most important holidays to us, as they celebrate the birth and resurrection of the Savior.

My daughter was our last child. When she was old enough to start talking we would look at catalogs and magazines and I would point out what was modest and what wasn’t. Why was I doing this? I also taught her that her body was special that it was a gift from God. Any gift from God was important and we treat it with care and respect. When we dress our body we wear clothing that respects our body. Things that are see through, too tight, too short. etc. don’t take care of the gift our body is. My mother always said “if you feel good you look good and if you look good you feel good” I dress so that I look as good as I can without drawing attention to any one part of my body. I know that when I dress modest I feel respect for myself. I am taking care of the body God has given me.

Mormon "customs" are pretty straightforward. When we go to Church the women and girls will be in skirts and dresses with modest tops covering up cleavage and hem lines at or below the knee (this is standard despite the fact that there will be some who choose to do otherwise). In summer we suggest shoes that would not be worn to the beach - basically we want to be nicely, not sloppily dressed in the House of the Lord.
The first time I ever went to Church I wondered if Mormons wore make up - and yes, we do!
For the men, a shirt and tie with nice slacks are great - many men will be in suits with white shirt and tie and nice shoes. This is pretty standard for the young men and boys too - generally speaking no jeans for anyone and women will NOT be in pants although everyone is welcome no matter what they are wearing!
Mormons love a good party! We have many activities where games are played - monthly the youth (ages 12-18) have dances as do the Young Single Adults (18-30) and older single adults. Many of our members are involved in sports teams at school or even at church - we have lots of opportunities to play sports on church teams - basketball, baseball and "turkey bowls" are pretty standard activities! Music is also a very popular activity for members of our church - we sing in all of our meetings and often our kids are involved in music at school as well.
We celebrate Christmas and Easter as well as all of the standard holidays that occur wherever we live.

The church teaches and I believe that our bodies are gifts from God and that they should be valued and taken care of. As a church we are asked to dress modestly. I don't wear shorts above the knee or shirts without sleeves. I love to swim and swam competitively in high school. I have a one piece speedo that I wear when I swim for speed. I avoid two piece swimming suits.
My favorite holidays are birthdays, Easter and Christmas. As a church we also tend to celebrate the 24th of July which is the day our pioneer ancestors first entered the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. It is fun to dress up in pioneer costumes and tell stories about pioneers crossing the plains.

I dress for church in a manner that will show respect to God and Christ. Usually you will see crowds of us walking into our church buildings wearing things like suits, ties, and slacks for the men & boys and skirts, dresses, etc for the women and girls. We attend every Sunday so as to receive spiritual nourishment, as well as to renew our promises we've made with the Lord.
As far as holidays go, I'm happy to say we celebrate our Savior's birth as well as His resurrection! Christmas and Easter have always provided me with fond memories and wonderful faith building moments!
We also celebrate the national holidays and other days such as birthdays and anniversaries!

Members of the Church wear their best clothes to church on Sunday out of respect for the Savior. For men, that typically means wearing suits or slacks and a white shirt and tie. For women, it means wearing modest dresses or skirts. However, there is no dress code other than to wear our best clothing. We want to show the Lord that we love and respect Him, and one way we can do that is by how we prepare to attend Church. It is also important to know that we dress in regular clothing the rest of the week. Often people see missionaries out in the street wearing suits and ties, but regular members of the congregation wear regular clothing throughout the rest of the week.
As members of the Church, the two most important holidays for us are Christmas and Easter. They are spiritually significant to us as they allow us to reflect on the birth of the Savior, His suffering and death, as well as His resurrection. We also celebrate national holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other such events.

As ladies, we wear modest skirts and dresses which reach the knee. The guys wear dress shirts and pants, usually accompanied by a tie.
We celebrate all the holidays celebrated as a general rule in our communities. Holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's and St. Patrict's Day are just a few examples. Birthdays and Anniversaries are mostdefinately embraced. We believe in Christmas and Easter as the most spiritual holidays though because they refer to the birth, sacrifice, and resurection of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

We celebrate all holidays and also birthdays and anniversaries. We dress formally for church. Women wear skirts or dresses while men wear button-down shirts and ties. Children do the same. We like to shake hands when we welcome each other at church. Our sacrament meeting is regarded very reverently with no clapping after performances or talks. We keep our children with us and try to teach them to whisper and listen to the talks. We have a family night in our own homes weekly to study the gospel and do fun activities to grow closer to our families.

Sometimes I have colleagues at work ask if Mormons celebrate holidays. I smile and say, just about all the same holidays that you do. Christmas is my favorite. Our family has a tree, we give and recieve gifts, we read the story of Jesus' birth and gather with relatives. We also celebrate Easter and remember the resurrection of Christ in our church services. And, yes we celebrate patriotic holidays. That being said, I personally don't pay much attention to days like Mardi Gras, St Patrick's day, or Cinco de Mayo because these days tend to be excuses to drink--not something Mormons get very excited about.
As far as Sunday dress is concerned--we welcome anyone into our meetings no matter what they wear. That being said, men will feel most comfortable in a shirt and tie while women will feel most comfortable in a modest and unrevealing dress. One might say we are old fashioned and conservative--I am okay with that.

Each week we dress in our 'Sunday best' which for our family means a tie and nice slacks for my husband and a nice and modest dress for me and my daughters. While this is typical, we believe you show honor and respect to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by wearing your nicest clothes and for some that means jeans, or a pantsuit.
As a church we celebrate and honor our Savior Christ on Christmas and Easter. As a family we have special celebrations of many Jewish holidays and other Christian holidays. Our family studies the stories and miracles associated with each holiday and talk together about the amazing miracles God works for his children. While we may not celebrate each holiday in the same manner as other religions we have found it inspiring and uplifting to acknowledge the love of our God.
We also observe the regional holidays of Utah and our country. In fact, we love Thanksgiving and Independence Day. We celebrate by bringing our extended families together and eating, playing games and thanking our Heavenly Father for the blessings we have and the freedoms we enjoy.
Each year we honor birthdays and anniversaries, though I have been known to forget a date or two. My children love any occasion which requires gift giving, and they love to give as much as receive.

I find that when I am getting ready for church and I select a nice dress, fix my hair and make up to look my best, as well as help prepare my family with their "Sunday Best" I start the process of worship. I am preparing myself to be ready to meet with my Savior. If I were to be granted the blessing of meeting Him in person, I would want to be dressed and groomed nicely. I love and respect Him that much. I have also noticed that my children and grandchildren behave differently when they are "dressed up". I like the custom of wearing nice clothes to church. It makes the whole meeting feel more special as everyone has made the effort to come well groomed.
We celebrate all the traditional holidays. Those that have special meaning regarding Jesus, such as Easter and Christmas, we try to focus on Him. We have a fun tradition of dressing the children in costumes that are similar to those worn at the time Jesus was born for our Christmas celebration. We read from the book of Luke and remind them that the giving of gifts is symbolic of how Jesus gave us the gifts of the Atonement and Eternal Life with our Heavenly Father. We feel we can enjoy many of the things associated with holidays, but we love to remember the sacred parts of them as well.

Mormons tend to observe the same holidays as other Christians. The church explicitly promotes Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, including official hymns for these holidays in the hymnal. Any modest clothing is permitted in our meetings - the New Testament forbids preferential treatment in church on the basis of clothing - but as a sign of respect for ourselves and for the Lord, Mormon men tend to wear neckties and slacks to church meetings, and women to wear skirts or dresses.

We dress for church as if the Lord was going to attend: dresses, suits, etc. We try to be modest in our clothing also; we try to avoid showing bare shoulders, cleavage, keep the abdomen covered, and keep dresses and skirts at an appropriate length (this is mostly for women). We celebrate every holiday that the typical American family would celebrate. The only holiday that we have provisions for is Halloween; we avoid satanic masks and cross dressing. This goes for the members collectively, not specifically to each person.

We can celebrate most holidays, excluding a few religious ones practiced by other religions, Ramadan, Holy week, etc. We dress in our best. Some might not have the ability to buy a suit and tie. That's okay. As long as we are respectful and modest, that is good enough for God. We place special emphasis on the family, and hold a night often Monday each week to conduct family business and have a spiritual lesson.

David answered…
I wear a white shirt and a tie, usually with a suit coat. My wife wears modest dresses or skirts. But if you happen to visit our congregation in jeans or something not so fancy, nobody will frown on you. We're happy to have you come by!
We actively celebrate Christmas and Easter, but we do not at all discount the rest of the Christian holidays. Any way we can celebrate Christ is great. Members of the church also celebrate regional and national holidays, as well as birthdays, anniversaries, and such.
Another wonderful custom of the church is family home evening. Church leaders urge families to reserve an evening once a week (usually Monday) for the whole family to get together and do things. The primary focus of family home evening should be reading the scriptures, teaching each other the principles of the gospel and kneeling together in prayer, but it can also include very entertaining activities as well. The lessons can be made fun, the children can sometimes participate in the teaching, we can sing songs, play games (either associated with the lessons or just for fun), talk about family plans, have treats after, go visit some neighbors or friends as a family, and so on. Occasionally our family will have a family outing, like taking the kids to the zoo, for our family home evening. Every family is different and can adapt to its needs and circumstances. As long as the focus is primarily on spending time together and teaching the gospel, it'll do wonders!

Many of my friends of other Christian faiths ask me what we do at Christmas and Easter. They ask if we have something like a midnight mass at Christmas, or Easter Morning service. I often respond by telling them that we generally celebrate these holidays in a manner that they would recongnize. While we have normal services on Sunday, in our family we have special times where we read scriptures together, and talk about our Savior's bith, his sacrifice and death, and his victory over death and sin. This is an opportunity for me to teach my children from scriptures, and share with them my personal feelings about these important events.
We do put up christmas trees and decorate them every year. We have a special meal at thanksgiving, christmas and easter. We decorate easter eggs. We celebrate other special days as well. These are family traditions that help us grow together, and have fun. Though we enjoy these activities as a family, we try focus on the spiritual aspects of the important religieous holidays and remember who created us, and that these days are to remember Christ and his love for us.

We wear our best clothing to our worship services, females wearing modest dresses, males wearing dress pants, often with a white shirt and tie. The way we dress reflects our attitude about worship and about our Savior, Jesus Christ.
We celebrate the birth and life of Jesus Christ at Christmas and His life, atoning sacrifice and resurrection at Easter. We also celebrate Pioneer Day in July, honoring the legacy of early church pioneers. In the United States we recognize many other holidays, such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, etc. to recognize and express gratitude to God for our blessings and to honor and remember the sacrifices of others.
We follow the Word of Wisdom, counsel from the Lord concerning how we take care of our bodies. So we do not drink coffee, tea or alcoholic beverages.
Family is important to us. So we spend as much time as we can with our families. We try to hold daily family prayer and scripture study and weekly Family Home Evening (family night). Family Home Evening includes a lesson or activity and refreshments. Some families assign a different family member each week to plan the lesson or activity. When our children were at home, we assigned a different person each week to teach a lesson, choose the songs, offer the prayers, and prepare the refreshments.

When I dress for church I just wear the best I have. I have been on vacations and attended church in jeans and a collared shirt. It was the best I had with me. Most of the time I will wear a suit and tie. It is more important that you come to church than how you are dressed.... As a leader in the church I represent the Lord in my service and so I look the best I can for Him. I do not want to be a distraction to those who want the Spirit of the Lord to influence their lives at church.

It is recommended to leave "beachwear" like flip flops at home.
You dress modestlly like you would feel comfortable meeting the prophet.
Attending church should NOT be a fashion show.
As for holidays, some men wear red or green ties.(not mandatory)
The women sometimes wear xmas sweaters.
Women usually wear blouses and dresses with sleeves.
Hemlines should not be snug. Clothing should be on the "loose'
side instead of "skin tight" like fashion dictates today.
In the winter months, more members wear coats if the winter temps are 32 degrees or cooler.
Climate can indicate the dress. Sometimes the men wear shirts and ties instead
of a coat in the hotter months.

Mormon customs are similar to other customs of people wherever you are around the world. When you go to church it is best to dress as nicely as you can, and everybody else should be doing the same. We also celebrate most regular holidays with everybody else in our culture. When I was in Korea the church members wore their very best, sometimes that was a school uniform for the youth, and when it came to celebrating it seemed like Korea had a holiday at least once a month - we even got together and had a sports day for Buddha's birthday because school and work were canceled.
Christmas and Easter are probably the most important holidays that our church members celebrate worldwide. It's easy to understand why - these two holidays celebrate the birth and the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is obvious that those types of celebrations would be very important to us as Christians.
My favorite part about Mormon customs and culture is that you come as you are and everyone should be warm and accepting. I loved watching people who weren't members of our church come to church on Sunday, or come celebrate holidays with us and they didn't really know what to expect or do, but they just came and were themselves and we all had a good time.

Our house is always a party!
Each December our family hosts a Christmas Open House in our home. We invite everyone from work, school, the neighborhood, and church to attend. We share baked goods, my dear wife plays the harp, we sign songs, and have a great time. We cherish the opportunity to sing those sacred Christmas hymns and remember the birth of our Savior, Christ the Lord.
Halloween is also a favorite in our home - Thing 1 and Thing 2 both celebrate their birthdays in that general vicinity, so we get all of their friends together for a costume party/birthday party bash. It's a blast.

To me these Mormon customs are simply a way I have chosen to live my life to help me come closer to my Father in Heaven. We dress modestly, but this doesn't necessarily mean that we are boring in our dress. Believe me, I have some great Mormon friends with impeccable style. Some are classy, some are more retro. But each is modest in her dress. Being modest helps us remember that we are children of a loving Father in Heaven, and our bodies are sacred and precious gifts.
We celebrate most holidays, but my personal favorites are Thanksgiving and Christmas because they include food and family! It doesn't get much better than that! Spending time with family is one of my favorite things about holidays. I'm so grateful that the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me the knowledge that I can be with them forever if I live righteously.

On Sunday we attend church for 3 hours. Most men wear white dress shirts and ties. Women typically wear dresses or skirts. We try to wear clothing that will set Sunday apart as a special day. We feel reverent and respectful when we take time to make our clothing reflect the spirit of worship that should accompany us to our meetings.
On Sunday, we attend Sacrament Meeting as a family. In this meeting we partake of the Sacrament the bread and water. These emblems are symbolic of the body and the blood of Christ. When we take the Sacrament, we promise to always remember Him and keep His commandments. It is important that we do this each week so that we can always have His Spirit to be with us.
The second Sunday meeting is Sunday School for those 12 years old and older. The different age groups attend their own Sunday School Class. These classes teach lessons that focus on teachings from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Those younger than 12 attend Primary or Nursery -see below
The last Sunday meeting is Priesthood for men 12 years old and older, Relief Society for all women age 18 and older, Young Women age 12 -18 and Primary children ages 3 - 12. The Nursery ages 18 months - 3 years. Each of these classes teach age appropriate lessons that focus on teachings from the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and the teachings of living prophets.
It is a joy to attend church each week. I love to remember the promises I made to my Savior, Jesus Christ. I love to learn about His life and teachings. I love to learn about His plan for me. I love the bonds of friendship that are formed when I learn with and serve those who also love Jesus Christ.
We celebrate many holidays, some religious and others secular. Christmas and Easter are holidays that we focus our attention on the Savior and his life and mission. We give gifts and have special family gatherings where we focus on the life of our Savior.
Some of my families favorite secular holidays are Halloween, Independence Day, and Valentine's Day. Each holiday brings special memories and happy family traditions. We love to do things with our family and friends of all faiths.

We wear proper clothing, like a shirt and tie, maybe a suit. Different cultures wear their own proper dress: when I was with the Samoans, most of the men wore an 'ie faitaga. So long as it is modest and respectful, and not overly casual, it works just fine. It helps me to get into the spirit of worship better.
Christmas and Easter are the main holidays we celebrate as a church, as they are about Christ. Other 'holidays' like Halloween, St. Valentine's Day, Veterans Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Independence Day are often very enjoyable.
We live like most other people in our societies, though we try to avoid the negative customs or those that go against the teachings of the church, like parties that involve alcohol and such. Aside from being contrary to the commandments, avoiding that stuff really helps us to have a lot more fun in life.

How would you dress if God invites you to his house? At church men usually wear a button up shirt and a tie and women usually wear skirts or dresses. I personally like bright and colorful ties. As a church we celebrate Christmas and Easter especially as they help us remember the birth and resurrection or coming back to life of Jesus Christ. I personally also celebrate Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Federal Government Holidays, Cinco de Mayo, Talk Like a Pirate Day, etc. I celebrate any holiday I can. Our family has a special tradition of observing 'Moroni Day.' On the night of 21 September 1823 an angel appeared to Joseph Smith named Moroni. He was a messanger from the presence of God to give instructions to Joseph about translating The Book of Mormon. Every year on this night my Dad reads to us the things that Moroni taught to Joseph. You can know for yourself exactly what Moroni taught when he lived here on the Earth by reading what he wrote in the Book of Mormon. It is written in the Book of Moroni starting on page 518 of the Book of Mormon. I know that Moroni is a prophet who Jesus Christ taught and he wrote his own testimony or witness of Christ in the Book of Mormon.

Sure! Generally, for Church, we dress in our Sunday best. In other words, we strive to dress in a way that shows others how much we value Church, and the Sabbath Day. Men generally wear a suit, with a white shirt. The white shirt denotes purity, and symbolises our hope to one day be considered pure by our Judge and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Women are encouraged to wear a dress or skirt and blouse, that covers their body in an appropriate way. As for holidays, we celebrate every non-religious holiday that everyone else in our local communities, celebrate. We also celebrate the main orthodox religious holidays, like Christmas, Easter, etc.

First of all, you are welcome to attend NO MATTER what you are wearing! That being said, you may be more comfortable if you know ahead of time, typically how we dress when we come to church.
Think of your 'Sunday Best'. For women that would include modest dresses and/or skirts (modest meaning preferrably nothing revealing, too short or too tight). Typically men wear suits, sport coats, or button up shirts and slacks, and most wear ties.
The little girls wear dresses or skirts as well and the little boys wear slacks or nicer pants (preferrably not jeans) with a button up shirt (with or without tie) or a polo.
As for Holidays, we celebrate them all!! The most important Holidays of course are Easter and Christmas because of the celebration of the Savior and all that he went through for us.
When it comes to Halloween, if you attend a church party, they usually ask that no one wear anything immodest, masks (think Horror movie), or anything that you would feel could be 'inappropriate' (Perhaps devils or excessively scary or grotesque creatures,etc.).

For church on Sundays I usually wear a clean white shirt and a tie along with nice pants, sometimes, usually during colder months, I wear a suit and tie. My wife usually wears a nice skirt somewhere between knee and ankle length and a nice blouse and/or sweater. This is pretty typical of members of the Church. I suspect that local customs effect what is worn in other parts of the world, but the standard is that we try to show respect for our Heavenly Father in what we wear. If someone shows up less dressed up they are not turned away from worshiping with us.
As members of the Church we celebrate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and resurrection at Easter. We also celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas like all Christians.
We also enjoy celebrating other local and national holidays where we live, as well as celebrating family events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Morman customs are pretty normal. You wouldn't pick us out in a crowd. Our dress is normal but modest. We wear our best clothes to church on Sunday out of respect to our Heavenly Father. We celebrate the same holiday's as most everyone in the United Staes. My children love Valentine parties and dying eggs at Easter. Turkey on Thanksgiving with our kids and twelve grandchildren is a must. Christmas time is a joy and a time to remember our savior Jesus Christs birth

Most (but not all) women wear dresses or skirts to church. The degree of formality depends on the woman. Some women wear coordinating pieces, hosiery and heels every Sunday. Other women wear cotton skirts, knit tops and Chacos. Some women wear pantsuits. Men usually wear business attire.
Mormons celebrate just about anything that calls for a celebration! Halloween is pretty popular for some reason, but so are Christmas, Independence Day and Thanksgiving. Outside the US, Mormons celebrate along with everyone else. The only celebration that is unique to us is in July. We celebrate Pioneer Day on the 24th of July. This was the day that our pioneer ancestors entered the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. It's a big deal in Utah. Outside of Utah it's celebrated to varying degrees.
Mormons believe casseroles make the world go 'round. Have a baby? Here's a casserole. Somebody's sick? Casserole. New to the ward? Yup, casserole. You don't have to be Mormon to be on the receiving end of this custom. We like to eat, and we like to cook.

Mormons celebrate most holidays like everyone else. We have birthdays parties, anniversaries, and we trick or treat. Christmas and Easter are obviously the most significant because they deal with the Savior's birth and Resurrection. Sometimes we hold church activities outside of church that center around other holidays like Independence Day. For Sundays, we try to dress in our nice clothes- Suits, skirts, dresses, etc. Because Sunday is a day set apart from the rest and a day of reverence, we dress differently than we do the other days of the week. Even our small children wear dresses and collared shirts. I know for my children, it helps them remember to be reverent.

Members usually dress in their best clothes. That may be different depending on a person's cirumstances, region, community, and/or customs.
We celebrate Christmas, Easter and patriotic holidays like Independence Day on July 4th in the United States.
In family settings we celebrate birthdays, marriages, baptisms, graduations from school, and top sporting events such as the National Basketball Association's championship title game or National Football League's championship title game to name some.
