Humanitarian efforts

The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that people should bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). Throughout the world, when communities suffer major disasters and face difficulties beyond their ability to meet, the Church is prepared to offer assistance contributed by its members.

The aid helps people who are in need, without regard to religious affiliation, ethnic origin, or nationality. Humanitarian assistance has reached 147 countries and is valued at tens of millions of pounds annually.

Latter-day Saint Charities is a Church organisation that:

  • Distributes food.
  • Provides assistance in times of disaster.
  • Funds and encourages projects that benefit stricken communities.
  • Teaches self-reliance.
  • Helps people begin small businesses in their own homes.
