Tabernacle Choir

The world-renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir is a 340-voice group that was organised shortly after the Latter-day Saint pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. Choir members participate on a volunteer basis.

Music and the Spoken Word, featuring the Tabernacle Choir, is the longest running radio broadcast in America. It has been on the air since 1929, and it is carried on many radio and television stations.

The choir is also known for its recordings, among them a rendition of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic" which won a Grammy award.The choir has recorded with some of the world’s greatest orchestras and has appeared at the inaugurations of several U.S. presidents.

When you are in Salt Lake City, you are welcome to attend rehearsals and the Sunday broadcast in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square. There is no charge to attend.The Mormon Tabernacle Choir:

  • Rehearses every Thursday night at 8:00 P.M.
  • Performs weekly broadcasts every Sunday at 9:30 A.M.
