Few gifts in this life contribute more to genuine happiness than friendship.

Joseph Smith remarked that “friendship is one of the grand, fundamental principles” of the gospel. Similarly, Jesus Christ taught His disciples to love each other as He loved them, calling them His friends (John 15:12–15).

Good friends—true friends—bring out the best in each other. We should cultivate good friends and strive to be true friends ourselves. Choosing friends wisely and being a true friend will make life richer and happier.
