Faith
A successful marriage requires faith—both in God and in each other. Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on our belief in Him. It is a principle of action. Shared faith in God can bind married couples together in a commitment to common values. It can lend them strength to overcome obstacles that might otherwise damage their marriages. Likewise, in successful marriages, couples trust each other. And they strive to prove worthy of their spouse’s trust. A strong marriage is based on mutual trust and trustworthiness. Faith in each other, like faith in God, can help marriage partners face uncertainty and live up to high expectations.
