Love and kindness

On one occasion when Jesus was teaching, He was asked by a lawyer, “And who is my neighbor?”

In response, Jesus told the story of the good Samaritan. A certain man traveling between Jerusalem and Jericho fell among thieves, who robbed and wounded him. A priest who saw the man passed by on the other side. A Levite did the same. But a Samaritan had compassion on the man. He bound up the man’s wounds, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

This moving story of love and compassion reminds us of virtues that we need to cultivate in our homes and communities.

Read the story of the good Samaritan in Luke 10:29–37.
