How can I feel closer to God? Feeling closer to God is much like feeling closer to anyone. As with any relationship, it takes time and effort. But you have this promise: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you” (James 4:8). You can draw closer to God by: Talking to Him through heartfelt, personal prayer. Reading and really thinking about His teachings in the scriptures. Attending Church services to learn more about Him. Keeping His commandments. Remember, God is your loving Father in Heaven, not some mysterious, distant, indifferent being.
