Commandments
Commandments

Our Father in Heaven gives His children commandments because He loves them. He knows that “wickedness never was happiness” (Book of Mormon, Alma 41:10) and that righteousness will bring you lasting peace in your earthly life and eternal happiness in the life to come. God’s commandments can help you to become like Him and find joy.

The more you love God, the more you want to do His will. Jesus Christ taught that those who love God keep His commandments (John 14:21). Once you know what God wants you to do, you must have the courage to obey Him, even if it means giving up something you want very much.

Obeying God’s commandments may sometimes seem like a sacrifice, but He will bless you for your obedience with “peace in this world, and eternal life in the world to come” (Doctrine and Covenants 59:23).

When you do Heavenly Father’s will and obey His commandments, you show your faith and love for Him and for your Saviour Jesus Christ.
