Ten Commandments
Ten Commandments

Among the most basic commandments are the Ten Commandments, which God revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai. Jesus Christ taught that we should keep these important commandments (Matthew 5:21–37). So have prophets in our day.

In the 20th chapter of Exodus in the Bible, you can read the Ten Commandments as they were revealed to Moses:

  1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
  2. Thou shalt not worship idols.
  3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord, thy God, in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
  5. Honour thy father and thy mother.
  6. Thou shalt not kill.
  7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  8. Thou shalt not steal.
  9. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
  10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s belongings.
Obeying the Ten Commandments blesses individuals, families, and communities.
