A modern witness
A modern witness

In 1820, when Joseph Smith was a young man searching earnestly for the truth, Heavenly Father appeared to him and introduced His Son, Jesus Christ, saying, “This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” Joseph was called to be a prophet, a special witness of Jesus Christ. He testified of Christ’s divinity and taught His gospel. Joseph Smith and other modern witnesses saw and heard the resurrected Christ. After one glorious appearance of the Saviour, the Prophet Joseph Smith wrote:

And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father. [Doctrine and Covenants 76:22–23]
