Membership

A person becomes a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through baptism. Members have opportunities to learn, to grow, and to serve others.
  • The Church has a lay clergy in which members are “called” to serve in various positions.
  • Opportunities for service allow members to learn.
  • Each member’s service blesses others and is important to the success of the whole Church (1 Corinthians 12).
Benjamin, a Book of Mormon prophet, taught that “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service your God” (Mosiah 2:17). Church membership provides opportunities to serve others and, in the process, to develop talents and grow spiritually.
