Why I am a Mormon

The reason why i join this religion after searching what will be the true church here on earth. I found out through the Holy Ghost that this Church is true. why? because this is the only church that has a living prophet. Remember that in Amos 3: 7 " its says God will do nothing but he will reveal his secret to his servant the Prophet." the old testament had a prophet, the new testament had a prophet, the new generation is more critical there fore we need a prophet more than those in the past. to help us and guide to choose the proper way in returning back to our Father in Heaven.

Could you talk about your baptism?

I was baptise when i found out that the true church is now on earth. primarily because i prayed if the book of mormon is true, and i have recieve an answer for that prayer. Also my purpose here is now clear to me.

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

well we do what the church taught us to do, we have a family home evening every Monday night- it where we a family get together having fun and games afterward a lesson most of the time shared by the father of the family. also we all go to church every Sunday. and together with my second eldest son we go home teaching , visiting other members who are not active enough.

How has attending Church services helped you?

Attending church services help me make my faith grow stronger, because it actually make me strong and wise. The Gospel is very rich in knowledge and information. If only all the people will attend church every sunday surely everybody here on earth will be bless.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Remember that what you sow is what you reap. therefore if you have made right choices the out come will always be right . If you do good to men in return they will do good to you. The more you do good the more you will reap good.

Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?

Well i want top inform them of my beliefs and faith without offending them. share to them also the blessing of being a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

i was once been working with the missionaries teaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am presently a teacher in the sunday school gospel class for adults. and i teach about the gospel in the old testament.
I do not smoke nor drink wine for they are harmful to our body. remember that the Lord said our body is a temple of God for the Holy spirit sometimes dwell in us . if you harm your body your defying the will of the Lord.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Yes, Remember that the Lord said in Gen.2:21-24 ,"21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.'

That means the woman is an equal partner of man.

In 1776 the Declaration of Independence declared all men to be equal. However in 1830 when the Book of Mormon was published and the church established women and people of color still had no legal rights. The Book of Mormon declared 'Behold, the Lord esteemeth all flesh in one... (1 Ne 17:35) and '..black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile' (2 Nephi 26:33). Joseph taught and lived this. He authorized the Church's women's organization The 'Relief Society'.

When the church moved outside the U.S. borders, they created the State of Deseret with their own constitution which gave ALL adults the right to vote. The State of Deseret was later divided into US states. When the Woman's right to vote began in 1913, women had the right to vote in 4 states: Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and Utah.- all part of the original State of Deseret with their large Mormon populations. The Relief Society actively supported the Sufferage movement.

The church has always encouraged women to develop their skills and education. The Relief Society sent and paid the schooling for one of the first women at Medical School. Nothing has changed. Motherhood is emphasized because it can be a woman's greatest role - for children are our future. It can also be a woman's greatest joy. Jobs, looks, accomplishments etc will fade or be forgotten, but a loving close family won't, And thanks to grandchildren it will continue to expand.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

No! In fact, the choir I sing with, Saints Unified Voices, is a great example of this. We represent many races and colors--African American, Polynesian, Persian, Native American, Caucasian, plus a few others and we are directed by a wonderful African American woman you may have heard of by the name of Gladys Knight Mcdowell. All of us are faithful members of the church who come together to sing praises to our Father and Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. One of the messages we bring to the world through song and through example is that there are no race or color restrictions as to who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are also no race or color restrictions as to who can hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for everyone. In the Book of Mormon we read that the Lord 'inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God' (2 Nephi 26:33). We, as members of His church from every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, sing glory to God!
