I'm a Mormon. I love the Church and my Saviour Jesus Christ

About Me

I am a convert, who is married to a life long member. I am retired from the U.S. Navy where I served on submarines and loved it. I got out and worked for a while then went back to school and got my degree. I currently work as the Plant Engineer for a cold storage facility. I live outside a small town, and love having a small acreage to keep me busy taking care of geese, chickens, ducks, rabbits, horses and a goat.

I love the church, and have a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon, and the Church. I love working on geneology, and have enjoyed tracing my family and learning about my ancestors. Geneolgy is a good release and way to find out who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I had many questions before I joined the Church. Why would Heavenly Father not talk to us, I found out that he does through a Living Prophet. Why could we not be with our familes in Heaven, and again I found out we can and that we can be eternal families.

I started reading my wifes scriptures, and seemed to find all the answers that I wanted. Soon I asked how to join and she helped me talk to the Missionaries.

Personal Stories

How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?

Through respect and love for each other. Family prayer, and scripture study helps us all grow closer to our Saviour and to each other. Family Home Evening giving us a chance to study gospel principals and better understand them

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

The family is the basic building block of the Church. Through family history work, not only can we find our ancestors, but we are able to go to the Temple and do ordinances for them that allows us to be with them forever in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I continue to study the scriptures, and do my best to fulfil all my callings. I attend the Temple regularlly to do work for my ancestors.

I continue to study how I can be more like my saviour Jesus Christ and strive to live his example.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Good leaders and the power of Priesthood callings. Callings allow us to serve others and as we serve Heavenly Father gives us the chance to grow spiritually. Callings allowed me to see how the Church worked and gave me the understanding that while we serve others, we are also serving Heavenly Father.

I think the Church is growing because people see that there can be a better way to live, that they don't have to be bound by the chains of addiction, pornography, dysfunction and broken homes. We know that the most important thing in this world is the family and the future of this world is found in the lives of the children and teenagers we see on the street, in our malls and schools. The best thing we can do is teach them to be honest, upright and moral citizens who can contribute to the betterment of society. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches that the family is incredibly significant--so significant that God wants us to be families forever, even when we die. This is huge for many people in the world who realize that their children can really be with them forever. There is tremendous comfort in that, and I think this is why so many people are drawn to this Church. It provides hope and peace.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

They are peaceful, pure places, where only those who have committed to live the most discipled lives can go to ponder and pray. They are places where we learn about God's plan for all of humanity, and where we promise to do all in our power to help all of His children, and receive promises that we can be with Him as well. We wear white clothing that is simple, and remove our watches and bling, to demonstrate a willingness to let go of our day-to-day concerns to focus on the real things: people, and their worth to God.
