Hi, I'm Debbie H.
I'm a mother of 5. I teach a children's music classes. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a wife and have been married to my husband 17 years. We have been blessed with 5 healthy and wonderful children. I love digital scrap booking and wish I had more time for it. Prior to getting married, I graduated in 1993 in the field of Dental Hygiene. After my 3rd child was born I completely semi retired from Dental Hygiene. Before my 5th child was born I started teaching a music theory class for children and I love it! I love teaching children and delight when i see them catch the aha moment. I love music, I love to bike and play racquetball and practice Pilates. I love to watch my children try and work at anything. I have learned to enjoy the chaos of raising children and laugh whenever i can. Laughter, for me, is truly the best medicine!
Why I am a Mormon
My life as a Mormon began when my parents joined the church when i was 7. At this young age I could immediately tell the difference it made for our family. I just knew it was right, it felt good and where we needed to be. I have never questioned my membership in this gospel, I have had a strong testimony and it continues to be strengthened each day as i try to do my part. It just has made sense from the onset. I may not have known all I needed to know in the beginning, but it was the continuous feeling of peace and comfort and happiness I felt as i continued to do the right thing. I know where i am going, why i am here and what i am supposed to do each day...my life has and always will have purpose.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I don't know that my talents and gifts have been able to bless others. But I do know that when I share my gifts and talents, I AM THE ONE who is blessed and I AM THE ONE who has learned the most. It's like instant karma. It feels good to be able to share what the Lord has blessed me with in whatever capacity I can. If it benefits others in the process then that to me is an added bonus.
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
at a young age of 16 my testimony of how the holy ghost prompts us was strengthened. when i was 14 i had a knee surgery on my right knee and all went well. 2 years later my left knee went out one time and i was scheduled to do surgery on that knee. it really hadn't ever given me trouble ever, except this one time. because my right knee surgery was so successful, i felt comfortable having the other one done. a week before my surgery I had an impression that I would die if i had surgery. it just kept coming to me the entire week. not loud, just quiet thoughts and i thought i was crazy and it was hard to figure out if the impression i was having was just nerves or real impressions that needed action. i prayed hard to know what to do. when i would tell people i was having surgery, they seemed concerned, which wasn't the reaction i thought they would give me. the next thought was to ask my mom if i would be ok. i hesitated a few days and the night before the surgery, i blurted out, "mom, am i going to die if i have surgery tomorrow?" i heard her answer from the kitchen next door..."what did you say?' with concern. i knew right away that her response of concern and not humor, was an answer to my prayer. turns out that on her way home from work that afternoon, she had heard the same prompting and she thought someone was in the car, so she turned around and realized it was a prompting and she too, thought that it might have been a silly nervous thought, until i asked her my question. what i realized was that, the feeling i had was real, her feeling was real and they were both provided by the Holy Ghost. now i know better that when things feel right, they move forward and when they don't feel right it's probably not right. if we put our trust in the Lord everything works out how it is supposed to and we feel the Holy Ghost testify of truth and feel at peace. by the way, i NEVER had another left knee problem again....EVER!
How I live my faith
I have a wonderful husband and 5 children ages 14, 11, 8, 6, and 4. Life is always humorous around here! I enjoy teaching children ages 3-11 in what is called Primary. I serve in a presidency..a group of 4 women who are called to volunteer to run this particular organization. I am also a visiting teacher for our women's organization, called Relief Society. I get to accompany the ward choir on the piano and enjoy this experience as I receive the blessings of this sacrifice throughout the week. I love going to church every Sunday and renewing covenants I made at baptism. Because of the atonement of Jesus Christ I am able to feel that cleansing power each week as I worship in church and then try again to do better. In this day and age where evil is all around, attending and serving in the temple helps me keep the eternal perspective I need to keep a healthy outlook on life. The temples are a place of peace and solace where I love to be....it helps me live my faith better, helps me want to try a little harder. It helps me remember the eternal perspective I need as I tackle life's challenges with courage!
