I'm the person I am today because of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 27 years old and am currently a college student enrolled in the elementary education program and will graduate in December. I am happily married to my best friend and we've been married for almost 2 years now. I am also a professional photographer and I tutor students K-6th grade on all subjects. I enjoy volleyball, playing games, and hanging out with family and friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful to belong to the true Church of Jesus Christ. I know it's true because I have prayed to know that it's true. The power of the Holy Ghost has testified to me over and over again of it's truth. I have also experienced many things throughout my life that have strengthened my testimony of the truthfulness of this gospel. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he did indeed see and talk to the Savior, Jesus Christ, and Heavenly Father. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the Bible. I know that God lives and that he loves us. I know that we have a living prophet here on the earth today, President Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides this church under the hand of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for the gospel in my life. I am happy because of the hope and peace the gospel brings. I wouldn't be who I am today with out the gospel. It has blessed my life in so many ways and I am so grateful for the knowledge I have ~ and I continue to learn more and more each day through diligent scripture study and prayer. I know Heavenly Father knows each of us and loves us with a perfect love now matter how imperfect we may be. Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven of our sins.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I love missionaries! I had the opportunity in 2007 to serve in the Argentina Resistencia mission. I absolutely loved it. I have such a deep love for the Argentine people and their culture. I met so many wonderful people who I will never forget. I saw so many little miracles each day as a missionary. It was amazing to see people who had been through so much in their lives, people who were once bitter, people who once unsure about a living God ~ come into waters of baptism. It was a blessing to see the Spirit of God change their lives completely. Being a full time missionary changed my life. My testimony of the Gospel and Jesus Christ were strengthened even more than I could ever imagine. I felt the power of God each day as we shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with our brothers and sisters in Argentina. I felt the love God has for EACH of his children. I know missionary work is of God and He wants more than anything for each of his children to come unto Him, to be baptized in His church, and to obey His commandments. It is through Him and His gospel where we can truly find happiness and peace. I am grateful for missionary work throughout the world!

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

We have harmony and love in our home because we try to live the gospel each day. It helps by placing pictures of the savior and the temple on the walls of our home. These are visual reminders that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are always watching and listening. We also make it a point to say family prayers and personal prayers each day. We always bless the food and thank Heavenly Father for our many blessings. Prayer always brings the spirit in our home. We also hold "Family Home Evening" every Monday, like the Prophet has asked. This brings us closer together as a family. We are able to talk about the gospel more and spend time together these nights. Playing soft music throughout my home also brings the spirit. We avoid listening or watching un-holy things because this drives the spirit away. We are happy and safe in our little home because we try to live the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ each day.

How I live my faith

My husband and I are in a young married ward. We love it! We have made so many friends and met so many amazing people. We are gospel doctrine teachers on Sundays and we really enjoy it. We really enjoy finding service opportunities to help those around us. My husband and I try to live what we believe and we try to act as the Savior would have us act. We are happier this way! :)

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Before we came to earth, we all lived in heaven with our Heavenly Father and brothers and sisters. Heavenly Father developed a plan for each of us. This included us choosing to come down to this earth to gain a body. Under the direction of Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ created this earth for us to live on. We were sent to this earth to have families, friends, and to grow. Heavenly Father wants all of us to be happy. However, He knew life on earth wouldn't be easy. He knew we would face trials and tribulations. He even knew we would make mistakes. This is why He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to this earth to atone for the sins of all man kind. The Savior, who was perfect, died for each of us so that we could have the opportunity to repent of our sins and return to live with our Father in Heaven and our families again someday. There is life after death. Because the Savior died and was resurrected the third day, we too will live again and will have the opportunity to be with our families forever. I am grateful for prayer and the gift of repentance because this is what strengthens me each day. We are all fighting a battle each day with Satan, and it is up to us, Heavenly Father's sons and daughters, to chose the right and to stay close to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ spiritually.

A lot of people asked me this question on my mission, and, on the flip side, I asked it to a lot of people as well. Many people were surprised when I read them one verse from the Book of Mormon, that being "Adam fell that men might be and men are, that they might have joy." -2 Nephi Chapter 2 Verse 25.
It's simple the purpose of life is to have joy. Now, joy is not fleeting, it doesn't depart when things get rough, it doesn't have negative consequences nor connotations, and you will never be ashamed to be found having a joyful experience. I think of it this way real joy is that which you would be excited to see the Lord join you in your happiness. If it isn't worthy to be in the Lord's presence, it's probably not real joy. Real joy comes from lasting relationships like father and son, mother and daughter, husband and wife, friends that you would stay with forever from experiences which you always look back upon with a happy memory from making promises to God and keeping them from doing that which is right in the sight of the Lord. That is what real joy is, and when you feel that type of joy, you will feel the love that the Lord has for you in that very moment.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our fundamental religious service is what we call our Sacrament meeting. Anyone is welcome to join us in Sacrament meeting as well as our other Sunday meetings at any of our buildings. Sacrament is a time when we ponder and reflect on Jesus Christ's atonement for our sins, for He is the path by which we can repent of our wrongdoings and begin anew on a correct path with additional guidance from our Heavenly Father. Furthermore, on Sunday we have general Sunday School meetings where we talk more in-depth about the various doctrine of the gospel as well as meetings where we meet in groups of similarly-aged individuals to learn and discuss gospel topics more focused to each particular age group. We welcome anybody and everybody and would love to see you in our congregation spiritually connecting with your loving Heavenly Father and drawing nearer to him and his son, Jesus Christ.
