About Me

I have been a member of this Church for my whole life. I love everything about it and find that it is my guiding light in my life. Love living in California and showing people every day that members of the Church are good people that want to live their lives in such a way that we grow closer to God.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not only because I was raised in the Church, but at a young age I recognized for myself the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We all have it in us to find truth, and I found this Church to be the true Church of Jesus Christ. It is lead by Jesus Christ, who speaks through prophets to guide the Church today. The Church to me means light, life and love. Light, because it is the light of Christ that shows through and teaches of the truth and shows us the way back to our Father in Heaven. It means life because as Saints we believe that we can live not only here on earth, but after we die as well. This means that we can gain knowledge and understanding after this life as well. We can be with our family and have happiness after we leave this earth. Lastly it means love because that is what Christ has taught us to do. We are to "love one another" and to follow his example of love and service.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Something that has helped to develop greater harmony in my home is to see each person as a child of God and to view them as my brother and sister with whom I once lived with before I came to this earth. Viewing someone as a child of God instead as a stranger or just another member of the family has helped to understand people in my home that are having a hard time. The harmony that we have felt is something that just helps that day flow easier. We don't have to worry about things as much because we are understanding of those around us. We are all human. We all make mistakes. We are all different. But we are all children of God.

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

Most people might call it a "gut feeling", but I call it"promptings of the Holy Ghost". Listening to the Holy Ghost has helped to bring many blessings in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example. I also teach in Primary and love the kids so much! They view the Gospel in such a simple way, but it is so powerful to watch these kids develop their testimonies.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

God has ordained men to hold the Priesthood. We as women have been ordained by God to bring life to the Spirit children that have not yet had the chance to experience mortal life. We find that being able to hold this calling in life is just as important and also as necessary as men holding the Priesthood.

Women leading in the Church in many ways. We have an organization that is called the Relief Society. Which is exactly what the title means, we as sisters in the Church give relief to those in need. It can be someone who just needs to sit down and chat with someone or someone who just had surgery. We also serve in the Primary. This is like a Sunday School for children that are ages 3-12. Even if we do not have a specific calling in the Church, we always can serve on another because we all need to serve, as this has been something Christ has taught us.

This is a question I had to really consider before joining the Church. My mother is a non-denominational chaplain, and both my sisters are pastors. Female leadership in church settings is very important to my family.

It is to me as well. I think many people become offended when they learn that only men hold the priesthood because they misunderstand it. The priesthood is a tool given to men in order that they might serve others more. It does not in any way give them power or dominion over women. Those people who suppose the priesthood is a way to control others are deeply mistaken.

My husband is a priesthood holder, this means I am too. I have claim on my husband's priesthood power. Even more than he does. If I am sick, discouraged, or in need of help I can call upon my husband to give me a blessing through the priesthood that he holds. I then recieve many blessings because of my husband's worthiness to work in behalf of Christ. My husband is never able to give himself a blessing though. If he is sick or discouraged he must call on other priesthood holders to administer to him. My husband holds the priesthood so that he can bless me and our child - never himself.

The priesthood is the power of Christ on the earth. It allows those who hold it to serve their families in the same way Christ served the Church. Did Christ do any deed for himself during his earthly ministry? No. Christ spent all his energy serving the people. This is what the priesthood does for my husband. It infuses him with Christ's compassion and ability to love, and then my husband is able to use that celestial love in our family.

Why don't women also recieve this special gift then? The simple answer is women don't need it. As women we are innately endowed with compassion, selflessness, and love. Think about the way a mother loves her child. I believe there is nothing more pure and similar to Christ's love for us, than a mother's love for her children. Women naturally have the ability to love as Christ does.

In an ideal situation, which is what God always intended for us, there are two partners in marriage. There is the husband and father, a priesthood leader who can be called upon to administer blessings and serve in Christ's name. And there is also the wife and mother, who is blessed with the ability to love as Christ loves and sacrifice for her family. These are two seperate and divinely appointed roles. Each complementing the other. Both make a complete home.

Women do not hold the priesthood because they do not need it. Women have other God-given powers that raise them up to the task they are called to. A man is appointed to serve his wife and children - it is the power of the priesthood that enables him to do this.

I am grateful to have a husband who is worhty to use the priesthood in my behalf. It has blessed me many times and I know that it is a special gift from God - not only to my husband, but to me as well.

Saying that Joseph Smith is the founder of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (LDS) may cause a misunderstanding for some. LDS doctrine teaches that Jesus Christ is the head of the church, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed in Old Testament and New Testament times. The "of Latter-day Saints" in the church's name denotes that this is the last dispensation before Jesus Christ's Second Coming, or the last period of time in which the Lord has at least one authorized servant on the earth who bears the keys of the holy priesthood. The Old Testament and New Testament discuss various dispensations when Christ's church existed on the earth in its authentic state.

So, what is the importance of Joseph Smith in relation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God. He was simply a man called to speak for the Lord and played a key role in the restoration of Christ's church here upon the earth in these latter-days. Like Noah, Abraham, and Moses, we do not worship Joseph Smith, but study his life and teachings to better understand the will of God. Joseph Smith may had been a leader, but he was not and is not the head of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The head of the church is clearly stated in the church's name.
