Tyler: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tyler

About Me

First and foremost I'm a husband and a father! I love these God-given roles and I try to fulfill them to the best of my ability. I'm trying to make a difference in the lives of other children as well by being involved in the PTA (Parent Teacher Association).

I provide for my family by working as an IT Director and I also work for the Utah Jazz at all their home games. I love to rock climb with my children and some friends. I also love the outdoors and I hike, mountain bike and camp every chance I get.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I believe in the principals that it teaches and I know that Jesus Christ leads and guides us today and talks to modern prophets. I've come to know this through prayer and the feelings I receive as I've asked our Heavenly Father if these things are true. I feel good when I'm living my life according to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The things that he teaches in the Bible and the Book of Mormon are true and I recognize the difference in my life and the life of my family when we're doing the things that we've been asked to do. The happiness and peace that I feel when I'm following the teachings of Christ are wonderful and it makes a difference for every aspect of my life. I don't fear the future, even though bad things are happening all around us. I have faith that my family will be protected, even though we're challenged with trials in life. I know that through trials we can learn and grow and be strengthened. As we faithfully endure the trials of life we become the people that Christ would have us become. He shapes and molds us in His own way and I have faith in His plan for me.

Personal Stories

Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?

Each and every day we are faced with challenges. I have been dealing with the challenge of a very long commute to work each day for almost a year because of a new job that I took. This has been a burden in terms of time and money. I assumed when I took the job that I would move closer to work, but that still hasn't been possible. At times I've wondered why I took the job if I wasn't able to move closer, but since I prayed about this major decision in my life and felt good about the change I have faith that there is a reason. I still don't know the reason, but I trust in God's plan for me.

How I live my faith

I really try hard to live my faith, but I'm still a long ways from being perfect at it. I think people recognize that I'm trying my best and I know that's the most important thing. I try to be an example to my children by going to church every Sunday and actively participating. I've been asked by my ward to be involved with the men in helping them strengthen their feelings about what it means to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I try to help them to remember their God-given role as a husband and father and teach them to honor that role in their lives and give it first priority. I've learned so much from staying involved in what I've been asked to do and I try to do my best.
