Kim Michael: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Kim Michael

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fouth generation Californian. My ancestors came to America in the 1630s I was born and raised in San Francisco. I now live in Sacramento and work in Real Estate as a Realtor. My Mom was an excommunicated Catholic for marrying my Dad who was Episcolpalian but together they taught me that there is a God and to make Him a part of my life. I never gave the whole religion much thought until I was married and my first son was born. Together my wife and I knew that our children needed to be spiritually fed. So we started looking at churches. We went to a very nice Episcopal church in Lafayette, Ca. but were kinda put off when told that our son belonged in the nursery and not with his parents during sacrament. The Reverend said he would visit us and two months later never showed up, so the hunt continued. Friends invited us to go to the Oakland Temple open house before dedication in 1964 and the rest is history. Now serve in the High Priest Group leadership. Between my wife and I, we have 10 children and 7 grandchildren. I have had many spiritual experiences in my life some very dramatic that each one has furthered my knowledge of the Gospel and my testimony of the truthfulness thereof. My interests include ----- family - being a Husband, Dad and a Grandad / Genealogy - Family History / flying - licensed pilot and instructor / boating / travel - primarily by cruise ship / horses - trained and showed Morgan Horses for 30 years / classic cars - my first car was a 1939 LaSalle opera coupe and of course real estate, being the fourth generation of my family in the business. So there you have it - the capsulized version of me. Now, how may I help you?

Why I am a Mormon

This is an interesting. As mentioned above, I was looking in particular for a faith my children could embrace and be taught Gospel Principles. As I looked about and looked at other faiths, one thing stood out --- there was no logic! Some keep talking about hell and damnation - but why would a loving father condemn His children to such? --- I sure wouldn't to my kids. Where was truth to be found? What about "until death do you part" of the marriage covenant found in other faiths? Does that really make sense?? Well, when one takes the time to look at the first couple of chapters of Genesis, the "until death do you part" doesn't exist nor does it follow the pattern the Lord laid out when Adam and Eve were married - yes, they were indeed married as Adam refers to Eve as "wife" several times. And if one reads carefully, Adam and Eve were married before the fall --- before mortality entered their bodies. They were married for eternity by one who had the preisthood authority and the keys of sealing power. So this all set me on a course to study, learn ponder and pray. And over the years the truth has been made clear to me and the truthfullness has been confirmed by the Holy Ghost, just as the scriptures promise. One then begins to exercise their faith by being of service to others and by doing so, the gospel begins to be alive and burn within your heart. Study, ponder, pray and work within the gospel clearly defines who you are and who you will become. Compound that with daily experiences losing as son at 14 days of age and the receiving of a revelation and receiving the courage and comfort of the Holy Ghost and you have beauty all around and truth prevails - leaving one at peace and comfort that indeed "all is well".

How I live my faith

I live day by day with the ultimate goal to return to Heavenly Father and live within the Celestial Kingdom with my family. The joy would be to have all my ancestors there with me as without their sacrifice my history would be entirely different. Even with the daily trials we all experience (health and otherwise), one should keep in mind that the Savior has descended below it all and my troubles are but a tiny part of my overall existence. I try to DO somthing each day to further my knowledge and practice of the gospel. I hold accountability meetings with myself each morning and evening as I study myself in the mirror --- ya know --- shaving and brushing of teeth. I have great joy in seeing others happy and do my best to help them along the way --- a smile and a kind word go a long way.
