Hi, I'm Andrea
I'm a stay-at-home mother of two. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I've been married for 5 years now and have two beautiful children. My life right now is pretty much taking care of my family and home, but I have many other interests besides homemaking. I have a bachelors degree in recreation management with an emphasis in recreation therapy, so I love the outdoors and I love helping people. I really like to sew and quilt and do other crafts, especially when I can help others in the process. I also really love to travel and learn about different cultures. I have been to at least 10 countries and even lived in Saudi Arabia for two years with my family when I was young. Another thing I am very passionate about is music. I love to play the piano and sing, especially when I can do them with family. Music is powerful in so many ways. I also love animals and have a bassett hound/labrador mix dog named Cooper. I love my life and thank God every day for the blessings He has given me.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised a Mormon, but that doesn't mean I had to be one. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I have prayed to Heavenly Father and asked him if this church is true. I have felt in my heart so strongly that this church has all the truth and will help me have the greatest happiness. I have been able to observe the lives of many people, Mormons and members of other religions alike, and I can testify that Mormons are the happiest people I have ever met. Members of this church understand their purpose on this earth and it gives us peace and hope. I have received a personal witness from God that His son, Jesus Christ, is my Savior and Redeemer. I know he lives. He lived on this earth a perfect man, suffered for my sins, was crucified, and rose again. He has truly suffered all things and conquered all things and he can help you and I do the same.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer plays an enormous role in my life. It is through prayer that I can talk to my Heavenly Father and receive help from him. He always answers my prayers, even if it is not in the way I expect. There have been many times that I have been scared or sick or needed help that I have prayed and God has always helped me somehow. He doesn't always take pain or difficulties away, but he gives me strength to deal with whatever hard things I am experiencing. So many times I have felt such comfort after saying a prayer that I know God loves me and listens to my prayers. I have also prayed to know that the Church is true and the Book of Mormon is true. God has answered my prayers every time and told me through the Holy Ghost that they are both true. Prayer also helps me to be humble as I reflect on and thank God for everything he has given me. I cannot go a day without talking to my Father in Heaven and feeling the peace that comes as I do.
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
One of the reasons we do family history work is to learn about our ancestors and learn from their examples. When I read about my relatives I realize how much harder their lives were than mine and how much I have to be grateful for. I learn about great hardships they were able to overcome and it gives me courage to keep going through hard times. I know I can overcome anything that comes my way with help from the Lord.
The main reason we do family history work, though, is to unite families together. We know through the doctrine revealed to Joseph Smith that we are eternal beings and do not end when our mortal bodies die. There is much more to us than this earth life, but what we do here dictates what happens to us when we die. There are many many people who lived on this earth who never had the chance to hear about Jesus Christ or his gospel. They are able to learn about Him after they die and have the choice whether to accept His doctrine. Because of family history work and the temple, we are able to find those people and help them be baptized and receive the other ordinances of the gospel. The main purpose of our family history work is to unite families together through the sealing ordinance of the priesthood. We know that families can be together forever after this life if they are sealed together and we want as many people to receive that opportunity as possible.
How I live my faith
I play the piano for the church choir. Music is a wonderful way to feel God's love and His Spirit. I love being able to uplift and help others through music. I also visit a couple of women every month in their homes and share gospel messages with them as well as provide help to them as it is needed. I try to study the scriptures every day so I can learn more about Jesus Christ and become closer to him and teach my family about him. I know that every person on this earth is one of God's children. I try to follow the example of Jesus and treat all people how I would like to be treated.
