Alexandria: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Alexandria

I am a student at BYU-Idaho. I'm the oldest of 5. I'm a bit of a bookaholic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m the oldest child of 5 and love my family. Family’s something that’s important to me, even with all it’s ups and downs. I’m a junior in college and not exactly sure what I want to do with my future. Maybe write a book, as I love literature. But I love learning in general. I also love attending dances and parties with my friends. I like to go to the beach, sand dunes, have bonfires, climb mountains and delve into caves with my friends as well. I love to travel. Even if it’s the 100th time I’ve been there. Time can change things. Memories are always made. One of my greatest hobbies is writing in my journal and blogging. If the US Postal Services stopped carrying the mail, it would be a depressing day as I enjoy writing letters to my friends throughout the world. Life is truly a wonderful thing. I truly revel and love every moment.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a child, grandchild and great-grandchild of Mormons. I grew up with it. In my teen years, I naturally tried to discover for myself if this was something I believed in or if I believed in it because of my parents. However, through application of what the gospel teaches, I gained an unshakeable testimony of my own. It came slowly, there wasn't one "ah ha" moment. But the gospel feels true and touches something, giving me peace and comfort like nothing else does. I've been a member for all of my life, but I still learn new things every day. It all makes sense.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

In our church the young men between the ages of 18 and 25 or so have the opportunity and are encouraged to take the opportunity to serve missions without pay for 24 months. Women can go anytime after the age of 21 years and serve for 18 months. Then there are couples who serve in later in their lives. They go wherever they are called in the world and without pay they help people there by teaching language lessons, giving pure water, teaching self-reliance, but the main purpose is to spread the joyous news that the gospel has been restored on the earth, that modern revelation is occurring, that there is a living prophet on the earth today and that we've been blessed by additional scripture. They've been called to spread the news that the Savior, Jesus Christ, Lives.
Personally, I've helped the missions of the church by helping to prepare my brothers for theirs. However, the missionaries of the world can get a little homesick, so I just write letters to those that I know.

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

Right leads to right. It leads to more opportunities. It leads to more options. It leads to more freedom. Doing good makes you feel so joyful, happy and at peace that you want to experience that again, so you're naturally led to that which is right, which will cause those feelings to return.

How I live my faith

When I was a teenager, I was a class president for multiple years, organizing weekly activities for my age group and occasionally for all the youth. Then, as soon as I graduated high school and was no longer in the youth program, I was called to teach once a month for the women. I learned a lot from that. Since being in the women's group, I've been called multiple times to visit and teach other women in my church congregation. I love doing this. It grants me opportunities to meet others in my church congregation and make friends. I've also been asked to be a substitute teacher for many of the children's classes. The children are so sweet (most of the time). I love these opportunities.
