Hi, I'm C. Price
I've been a Mormon for my entire life.
About Me
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest-- the oldest of 6 children. I have a degree in English from WSU, but currently I work as a photographer and music teacher. I am married with 4 children (3 girls came first, then a boy) and we are expecting our fifth (and last!) child (it's a boy!) in August.
I have written for a few magazines and have aspirations to become a better writer. I read all the time and love to blog as well!
Why I am a Mormon
I have been a member my entire life and I think that my dedication to this church has grown over time. I am very educated and I have approached my questions with knowledge and seeking the Spirit to help me when I just can't seem to wrap my brain around things. Everything in the church just makes sense to me. Whenever I've studied another religion I have found things that don't make sense to my heart.
For example, I was once asked by a piano student when I was going to baptize my baby. She was holding him and cooing at him and I explained to her that we believe in being baptized when we can make the choice to do so-- at age 8 or later. She said, "oh, but in our church that means he's going to..." but she stopped as she looked at his innocent face with love in her eyes. I did not say anything, but I know she was wondering if God would turn away from newborn baby who had passed away? That doesn't make sense to my heart and it obviously didn't make sense to hers. She went on to ask, "do you believe in Jesus?" I answered in the affirmative and she said, "good."
Personal Stories
What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?
When we read the scriptures and pray as a family, I feel peace in our home. Not only does it reinforce our beliefs, but it helps us work together toward a common goal. I have found that when we are working together, we get along better. And the more frequently I am reminded of Christ and my goal to return to my Heavenly Father someday, the less distracted I am by the little things that can really bog us down in life.
How I live my faith
I teach children music at church and in the community. I think that learning to love music at a young age is so important. Learning what makes your soul feel good while listening music is something that should be tapped into during early childhood. I think having discerning tastes in a world that cranks out so much "music" that is really sub-par is valuable. I love being around children and experiencing joy with them as they discover new things or talents.
