Hi, I'm Bryce
I am from Utah. I am a professional genealogist. And yes, I am a Mormon.
About Me
I love history and biography. It seems that in every life there is a great story. I chose to study family history and genealogy at Brigham Young University, and now I'm a professional genealogist.
I love home and family. I love Jesus Christ.
Why I am a Mormon
Growing up, my parents were faithful Mormons. I was taught to pray to a loving Father in Heaven. I chose to be baptized as soon I could--age 8. My parents served in the Church whenever they were called to do so. My father bore witness of the truthfulness of the Church as a lay leader of our local congregation. As a pre-teen and teenager I began to ask myself what my beliefs were. Over time, through prayer and scripture study, I came to know with certainty that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.
Living prophets, scripture study and prayer are like a compass to me. As a member of the Church, I feel peace. I know the Church is true.
Personal Stories
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
We try to counsel together. My wife and I do our best to stay on the same page. We strive to have common goals and a common vision for our familiy. We make time daily to work and interact together as a family. We make a point of having dinner together with each family member at the table. We pray together. My wife and I devote time and attention to our marriage and make regular time for date night.
What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?
My wife and I decide what we feel is appropriate for our family, drawing on the scriptures and the teachings of the prophets. If there is a conflict or question about what we should do, or what we should watch, we talk about it. We are teaching our children while they're young to choose entertainment and activities based on the teachings of Jesus.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
"come unto me all ye who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?
I love my family. I appreciate the sacrifice my ancestors made to have their families. Through the restoration of Christ's gospel, all families of the earth can be bound together eternally. I do family history and genealogy work to give the opportunity and blessing of eternal family relationships to those who sacrificed so much to make it possible for me to come to earth!
How I live my faith
I pray. I love teaching my children about Christ. We read the scriptures together daily. We pray together and attend church together each week. We do our best to work hard and live honestly.
I serve with my wife as a teacher of 11 and 12 year old children in our local congregation. As a home teacher, I do my best to be in contact with four families in our congregation. My companion and I inquire after their welfare, share a message and pray with the families.
I do genealogy research. Learning about my ancestors is part of my religion.
