I am a work in progress to put it best. I am a wife and mom, and I find my greatest accomplishments in my children and in my relationship with my spouse. Families are everything and everything is because of our Families!!

Why I am a Mormon

It is who I am, it is what I believe in my heart to be true, it is how I was raised, it is my life full of good, challenging, difficult, and overcoming trials wrapped up in experiences that have provided me my own personal testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even though I was raised by parents who had their own testimonies and raised me with the gospel and the values that accompany it; I had to go through my own conversion process by the good and not so good choices I made through out my life, and finding out for myself how the gospel really brought happiness, peace, and purpose to my life. And by theses experiences through out my life I finally have the testimony of Jesus Christ and His gospel written in my heart.

How I live my faith

How I live each and every day can demonstrates my faith in Jesus Christ, and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I try to live by the motto of "Treat others the way you would hope others would treat you." I find ways to invite the Spirit of the Lord into my daily life. Prayer, searching the scriptures, listening to music that brings peace within, or taking some time to do one thing for someone else. I attend church and the Temple. Spending time with my family, taking time to have prayer with my children, and sharing my testimony regularly of our Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ, and the gospel principles.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

First and for most their role is to love each other, and to care for each other. I truly believe if this happens it will carry over to their children, and I know happiness and success will happen within the family unit. I know that when we love each other the way would want to be loved, make an effort to be aware of each others needs, try to support each other, and to put each other first the greatest respect is developed and nurtured, and a deeper love and friendship will grow. IF these things are a part of a marriage, and both husband and wife make it a part of their relationship with each other, this will be a relationship that you would want to last for forever.

The role of husband and wife in the family is to first and foremost love each other! Wow, revolutionary!!!
I have found that when there is love and complete commitment between my husband and I, there is no problem that we cannot face together. It is much easier to teach the children with love and to handle life's challenges.
My husband and I are equals. I feel loved, respected, and appreciated by him. I hope he feels the same things from me.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

At various times, the Lord has commanded His people to practice plural marriage. For example, He gave this command to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, and Solomon (Doctrine and Covenants 132:1). At other times the Lord has given other instructions. In the Book of Mormon, the Lord told the prophet Jacob “for there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife: and concubines he shall have none... for if I will, saith the Lord of Hosts, raise up seed unto me, I will command my people; otherwise they shall hearken unto these things” (Jacob 2:27-30).

In this dispensation, the Lord commanded some of the early Saints to practice plural marriage. The Prophet Joseph Smith and those closest to him, including Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball, were challenged by this command, but they obeyed it. Church leaders regulated the practice. Those entering into it had to be authorized to do so, and the marriages had to be performed through the sealing power of the priesthood. In 1890, President Wilford Woodruff received a revelation that the leaders of the Church should cease teaching the practice of plural marriage (Official Declaration 1).

The Lord’s law of marriage is monogamy unless he commands otherwise to help establish the House of Israel (see Encyclopedia of Mormonism Vol. 3, pp. 1091-1095).
