About Me

I am married to a wonderful husband and have two beautiful daughters. I love doing family history. I own a tax preparation business in our town. I am a convert to the church. I was raised Southern Baptist and converted when I was 20.

Why I am a Mormon

In 1993, I met my husband at the store where we were both working. We started dating and he invited me to come to church with him. As soon as I walked into the church, the spirit so strong and everyone was very friendly. I started takinig the discussions and join the church. I am the first in my family that became a member and have enjoyed every minute of it. Our branch is a family and we work together to share the gospel and support each other. I am so glad that I joined. It made a big difference in my life and the direction that it was going. I am glad that I know that my family will be together forever.

How I live my faith

I am in charge of our family history center and help everyone with their family history. I am an assistant in the women's organization.
In the community, I am involved in many different programs. I am actively involdved in whatever my girls are into at that time. I am a member of the local Red Cross and Salvation Army. I am president of the Youth Bowling League. I own and operate a teen club for teenagers to come hang out.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Mormon Church is just like having an additional family. I enjoy the time that I spend there and spend with other members. I love service and this church not only does service but encourages all members to be part of it.

Being a Mormon is just like being anyone else. We eat, sleep, go to work, vote, date, marry, etc. There are, of course, things that we don't do such as drink or smoke, see explicit films or pictures, but I think that helps us become better people. By avoiding temptations we're able to live happier, fuller lives while still enjoying those things that God put us on Earth to enjoy. We were placed on this Earth to be happy and, for me, that's what being a Mormon is like-being happy.

Are Mormons Christians?

Depends on whom you ask. If you ask a faithful Latter-day Saint, the answer will be "yes". The arguments that I've heard against our being Christian are that we believe in the Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ); we believe that God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings with physical, glorified bodies of flesh and bone; we believe that Joseph Smith was called of God in our time as a prophet; etc. The short answer is "yes", we are Christians. I would even go so far as to say we are the only Christians; that is, we are the only church that Christ has given his priesthood authority. If a Christian is a disciple of Christ, then we are certainly striving to be Christians. Certainly, other churches help and serve in ways that are admirable. There are good people everywhere in the world. However, Heavenly Father is a God of order, not chaos. He has established one faith, one church, and one baptism. There are not several roads that lead to His Kingdom; there is one. We all can receive a witness from the Holy Ghost that we are on that one path that leads to eternal happiness.
