Hi, I'm Jesse H.
I'm a Mormon. I was born and raised in Tennessee. I love the Savior. Period.
About Me
I have a wonderful family and I am the youngest of 8 children. I just recently got married to my beautiful wife for time and eternity. She is the love of my life. I'm currently a college student trying to find my place in the world. I am studying communications in hopes of producing and supporting wholesome entertainment and media. I love music. Anything and everything about it. Music influences me in ways I cannot be touched otherwise. I also enjoy dancing and just having fun in any way I can. I just love to create. I love to find the joy in everything around me.
Why I am a Mormon
Sure, I've been raised as a Mormon, but it goes so far beyond just what my parents have taught me. Though I am grateful for the faith and guidance of my parents, I have been through many things that have shown me personally that Jesus Christ is real. I have seen and experienced so much in my life, that I would be denying all senses if I were to deny the reality of God. I have further come to know that He is more personal than we think. He loves us so much. He wants us to know the plan He has created for us. And He has revealed it through His prophets, both old and new. I love the scriptures and have been led to truth through consistent and intense study of them. More than all I have seen and experienced, the greatest is the beautiful witness of the Holy Ghost that has been sent to me (and continues to come) at certain times in my life. The feelings of understanding, comfort, love and joy come direct, personal, unexplainable and unmatchable. I know God lives and I draw closer to Him daily through the restored gospel.
Personal Stories
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
The Book of Mormon has led me to be the person I am today. The first time I read it, I struggled through it. I didn't understand or retain a lot of things. But I remembered people telling me that it would bless my life, so I decided to give it a fair try and devote my self to a consistent study of it during my senior year of High School. I've learned that consistency is the key. I feel that the Lord knew of my desires as I showed Him my willingness to learn. As I read, for weeks, I prayed that God would tell me if it was right. Suddenly one day while reading the Book of Mormon, I don't know where or what it said, but what I do remember is the Spirit of the Lord filling my whole soul and telling me, "This is real, this is true." Since then I have continued a steady pattern of studying it and the Lord has opened my mind to understand and apply the teaching found in it. I have found so much comfort and direction from the words and experiences of those prophets in the ancient Americas. I know that God loved them as he loves us now. He has given us this scripture to learn from and draw closer to Him. It is indeed another testament of Jesus Christ's divinity.
How I live my faith
One of my all-time favorite things in the world is a program called "Especially for Youth" or "EFY." As a youth, I would attend this week long camp each summer at a local university and it changed my life. Now, each summer I am a counselor for EFY. It fills me full of hope to see that there are youth out there who have such a beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ. I love being able to relate with them and help them see that there is lasting happiness in learning and following the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have seen the hand of God so much in my life and I feel it is important to help others to seek and see His hand in their lives as well.
