I am a mother of 5 and finally a grandmother of 1. I love to travel and to read. I love to walk and spend time outdoors. I especially love the beach. One of my current hobbies is raising chickens and I have a cute little flock of exotic chickens. I love my friends and family and especially love staying connected to them through the internet.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I want to worship and serve in God's church as it is set up on the earth. Also because I love the teachings and precepts of the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and they bring joy and peace to my family!

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

My most heartfelt prayers have been over difficulties in our family. And while I might wish the answer to my prayer would be to erase the challenge more often my answer is to receive strength from the Lord to endure and to handle things graciously as he would have me handle them. I am constantly amazed that when I turn to Him for strength I will receive sustaining through things I read, through the words of a friend, through a warm feeling or softer understanding of something.

How I live my faith

I am a busy and happy member of the church. I mainly serve in two areas. I help the teachers that teach an early morning scripture study for high school students. I taught a class myself for 13 years and now I help other teachers to become better teachers. I also teach an adult Sunday school class myself. Besides that I have 5 sisters that I watch over. Along with my girlfriend Gail we visit these ladies in their home every month to visit and share a message and check if they are in need of any special help. 3 of the ladies we visit live in a home with 8 pug dogs. It is a happy and lively home to visit. This month we walked 4 of the dogs while we visited. That was great fun! I love to serve and help in the church!

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Yes if a marriage is solemnized in one of our temples and the husband and wife stay true to the promises and covenants they make to one another and to God their family unit can continue into eternity.

When married by earthly power and the authority of man, our vows are "Until death do you part."

We believe that families can be together forever as part of our Heavenly Father's Great Plan of Happiness. His Work and His Glory is to bring to pass the exaltation and eternal life of man. He wants us to be even as He is and to return home to live with Him again.

Through the ordinances of his Holy Temples, God's son's and daughter's are able to make covenants. Through the power of His Holy Priesthood, be sealed together for all of time and eternity as Husband and Wife, parents and children.

Families were designed and instituted by God with the intent that they be forever. The love we feel in this life does not need to be cut off when we die. Those who have already died are not lost us forever. God has mercifully made a way by which all who would accept these saving ordinances can do so, living or dead.

We perform these ordinances for those who have in the past died so that they may have the opportunity of accepting them on the other side if they so choose to do so.

In the Temple we are taught some pretty powerful truths about who we are, where we came from, and why we are here. It's not the kind of experience you can just walk into and get. There is significant spiritual preparation and learning needed first. It's better to be prepared and enjoy the fullness of the experience than to rush into it too quickly and end up confused. The ordinances in the temple also require that you prepare yourself to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father. The best way to prepare for the Temple ordinances is to begin living their teachings consistently before entering the Temple. This is your way of showing Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father that you love them, obey them, and are ready for additional light and knowledge. Without this preparation, any ordinance of the Gospel would be an empty set of rituals. The Temple, in its fullest sense, prepares men and women to return and live with God as His sons and daughters. Anyone in the world can experience the power and beauty of the Temple, but a wise Heavenly Father has set out certain guidelines for their personal preparation first. Those who love Jesus Christ and walk in His ways will find in the Temple a power beyond their comprehension and a closeness to God not possible anywhere else in the world.
