Sarah: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Sarah

I grew up in Oklahoma. I am a wimp when it comes to insects, camping, and mushrooms. I work as a writer. I am a Mormon.

About Me

"Mommy, he is looking at me!" I've thought about making this my theme song. If I ever started a band this would be undoubtedly be a big hit. As a wife and mommy to 5 kiddos ranging in age from 13-5, I am an expert on solving the unsolvable. When I'm not breaking up arguments or finding lost library books, I love to write, work on family history, read the latest YA fiction, try new gluten-free recipes, craft, and practice my ever-fading French language skills.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I searched my entire life for answers to several simple questions. Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? I found the answers to these questions as I studied with the missionaries and prayed to know the truth. I had always known my Savior, Jesus Christ, and my Father in Heaven, but as I studied, read, and prayed I saw them even more clearly in the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I saw that I did have a purpose and place in this life. I learned why we have trials and how to overcome them. I learned and gained a sure witness that Jesus is my Redeemer and Savior. I learned how much my Father loves me and gained knowledge about His plan for my happiness here on this earth and my eventual return to Him. I'm a Mormon because I went out searching for truth and I found it.

Personal Stories

Could you talk about your baptism?

By the time that I found the church and committed to baptism, I was married and eight months pregnant. When I walked into the room before the service, it was filled with so many people, many of whom I did not know. I was surprised that so many people would be there to support me but they were. Already, I had a huge family of people surrounding me with love.

The water was warm, and although I am sure there were spiritual thoughts in my mind at the time, one of my greatest concerns was that my husband would be able to lift me and my huge belly back up out of the water. He did just fine. And as I came out of the water, I felt brand new, cleansed of sin, and uplifted by my decision to follow in the Savior's footsteps and be baptized. It was one of the greatest moments of my life.

How I live my faith

In my ward I teach adult women in Relief Society one Sunday a month. I love teaching the Sisters. I always end up learning so much more from them than they could ever learn from me. I was recently asked to teach an early morning Seminary class to the high school aged youth in our ward. Already this has been such a blessing to me, as I've strengthened my own personal scripture study as I prepare to teach these choice young people about our Heavenly Father's plan.
