I am an engineer and work with equipment. I am married and have four children. I like playing basketball and I play a little piano. I love crossword puzzles, also.

Why I am a Mormon

My college girlfriend asked the missionaries to visit with me. At first, I thought that I would never join the Church. On the third visit, I prayed and asked if their message was true, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the true. While praying, I compared my feelings with the following scripture, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23) I felt a great peace come over me and received a witness of the truthfulness of the Church and of the message I'd received. I committed to baptism, and was baptized a few weeks later. It is a decision that has greatly blessed my life. I have met wonderful people and had many wonderful experiences.

My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has grown immensely since joining the Church. I have read the Book of Mormon cover to cover many times and feel the spirit strongly each time I read.

How I live my faith

I serve as the bishop or head of our congregation. It has blessed my life as I have been able to meet and work with people. Especially rewarding for me is being able to work with the youth.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not! While we definitely serve the members of our own church, we believe that ALL men and women on this earth are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. Therefore, we are all one in purpose. Mormons serve people throughout the world on a local/personal level as well as on a global level. Members of our church are able to donate money, which is distributed throughout the world to people and nations in need, especially in times of trouble and disaster. It is also common for members of the church to organize activities where materials for humanitarian aid are gathered and distributed.

As a local Bishop in the Church, I can assure you that we do not limit our help to members. We perform numerous acts of service to our friends in the local community, and we do it gladly because we know service brings us and them great blessings of happiness and satisfaction. Our world wide disaster relief program brings food, clothing, water, sanitations kits and medications to our nonmember brothers and sisters around the world, quickly and effeciently. As Mormons, we know we are fellow citizens of the world and that all peoples are part of our Heavenly Father's family, and we try hard to act accordingy.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

There is no discrimination or exclusions of race. The Lord says in the bible, "...man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the Heart." 1Sam 16:7. The Lord does not care what race or color you are. All he cares about is you. He loves you.
