How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

I once recieved a ticket as a youth for letting my car insurance expire. As my mom and I sat with the judge to show him my valid proof insurance, it came to our attention that the date actually was expired. One the dates looked looked like a 6 versus a 0. In any case, it became clear we were actuLly in the wrong and on the hook for an expensive ticket. The judge had actually dismissed the ticket when my mom decided we needed to be honest and point out to the judge that we were in the wrong. I thought she was crazy, but she wanted to be honest. The judge smiled thanked her for being honest and dismissed the charge anyway.

Ever since then, it has been easy to continue to be honest and face the consequences, because I learned that in most cases, things will work out for the best. Even if the charges aren't dismissed, honesty has made me happier than the alternative.
