Hi, I'm Mickey Lee
About Me
I am an empty nester having raised 5 daughters. We have eleven grandchildren. This has made life fun and eventful. I look forward to their visits. My wife is an RN and I have a Granite countertop business. I enjoy wood carving , fishing, and camping. I like to compete in indoor rowing, it helps keep me active and fit.
Why I am a Mormon
My belief in the eternal nature of families.
In a nut-shell that is it. Father in Heaven has given us a plan of happiness which tells us we lived before this earth life , He is there now for us, and we will live with our loved ones after we cross over into the comfort of those we love and know. My extended family were members of the Mormon faith. Through them I saw a vision of what a family could be. They were not perfect, but I felt something different around them. Something I wanted, and did not have.
As a youth I was part of a broken home, two failed marriages and not a lot of peace and harmony. This experience left a lifetime impression on me. It helped me choose early between a Mormon life and some other path. More than anything I wanted the love of a family because I felt I did not have it. I hoped I could create it with the help of God . I gained a testimony of Gods plan through searching the Book of Mormon and fervent prayer. I can have the opportunity to be with those I love . Gods plan of happiness is for me and is real. Just as it is for all His children.
Personal Stories
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
One of the best things we have done as a family is to eat one meal together every day. With that meal we pray as a family. We just have time to talk...
Why do Mormons go on missions?
As a Bishop one of my great opportunities is to interview young men and women who want to serve missions. I get all kinds of reasons but those who end up following through and going on a mission have a common thread... They love the Lord and His gospel and want others to feel the same happiness they feel in their lives and they have a testimony of the truthfulness of their message.
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
The biggest thing for me and prayer is when my prayers are offered for all those around me. Sometimes my prayers are self centered , which is part of prayer for sure, but as I pray for those I love and those who have caused me some kind of pain, my attitude changes. I am far from perfect and need a good talk with the Lord to help me see things from different angles. In my family, church or business His guidance is seen without question.
How I live my faith
I love to attend church on Sundays. I am a Bishop of a wonderful congregation of 150 young single youth attending Brigham Young University. This keeps me on my toes. My wife and I attend, teach and encourage the members each week to love the Lord and keep His commandments. They are terrific ! Sundays start early as I meet with all the members who assist in helping things run smoothly. I am so blessed to have great councilors and assistants who give selfless service to these young men and women. Brigham Young University is a special place where the spirit of the Lord can abundantly assist in the learning process and increase testimony , as these young men and women live their lives in harmony with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
