Hi, I'm David
I was born and raised in Indiana, I'm a recent college graduate, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I grew up in Pendleton, Indiana and went to college at Ball State University, where I met my wife. Now my wife and I live in Fort Wayne. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in French in 2010 and hope to become an interpreter/translator. Growing up, I was active in Boy Scouts (I'm an Eagle Scout) and band (I play the trumpet).
My hobbies include watching movies, traveling, family history work, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Why I am a Mormon
My parents both joined the church before they met, so I grew up in the church. Growing up, church wasn't a big deal to me - it was something that I guess I mostly took for granted. However, once I went away to college and didn't have my parents to make sure I went to church, I decided that I needed to find out for myself if the church was true. I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it was true, as promised in Moroni 10:3-5. After almost two weeks of reading, I got the distinct answer that it was true and I would have known a long time ago if I had just asked. With this knowledge secure, I served a full-time mission to Montreal, Canada. The time I spent on my mission allowed me to help others develop faith in Jesus Christ, as well as strengthening my own.
Once I returned from my mission, I met my wife at college. We got married in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple for time and all eternity. This is the ultimate goal of the gospel of Jesus Christ - through His gospel, families truly can be together forever, and not just until death. This is one of the greatest blessings in my life and I'm so grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
I can answer this from personal experience. I have been blessed beyond measure through my membership in the Church and my knowledge of the gospel, and I served a mission so I could share those blessings with others. Our Heavenly Father loves us, He sent His Son to die for us so that we can return to His presence and have eternal life. There are people in the world that either don't know this at all, or don't fully understand all of the blessings that He has in store for us. One of the greatest gifts we can share is the gift of the gospel.
How I live my faith
I try to live each day as an example of Christ through serving and showing love to those I meet. I am also a home teacher in my ward - this gives me the opportunity to visit families on a regular basis to see how they are doing, provide them with a spiritual message, and help them out in any way that I can.
