About Me

I am a college student preparing to go to graduate school. I am married to the most wonderful woman in the whole world. I like sports, music, and the out doors. I served a mission in Minnesota speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church, but that is not why I am a Mormon today. I have chosen to follow this faith because I read the Book of Mormon when I was a teenager. I started to realize the importance of a Savior and how I can have my own personal relationship with him. As I studied the Book of Mormon, I knew it was true and came from our Heavenly Father. I also knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet because he translated the Book of Mormon and restored Christ's Church. Since then, I have studied many faiths and beliefs, and feel that many sects preach good and righteous teachings. However, I also believe that Christ's church as He organized it while on the earth has been restored on the earth today by His authority as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This church has brought meaning and purpose into my life. I know who I am, where I came from, and where I am going. I have peace and true happiness that cannot be replaced by worldly pleasures. I know that I will live with my family forever through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

I served a mission for the church in Minnesota. I was assigned to learn Spanish so that I could teach Spanish speakers there. Missionaries voluntarily serve for a year and a half to two years as full time representatives for the church. On my mission, I met with people who were interested in the message we share, taught them about Jesus Christ and His gospel, and assisted various congregations throughout the Minnesota/Wisconsin area.

How I live my faith

I work with the other male members in my ward to coordinate family visits, Sunday instruction, and making sure their families are cared for. I also visit other members to share gospel messages and support them in their daily lives.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

After the prophet dies, the Apostles meet together in the temple to pray about who should be the next prophet from among the Apostles. They receive revelation from Heavenly Father on who it should be. It is usually the senior Apostle, although revelation can chose otherwise.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

We believe that men and women are equal in importance, but different in responsibilities and roles. We are two parts of a whole. Women can bear and raise children, men provide and protect. This may seem old-fashioned, but it works! My husband is the President of a company, and I tell him that he is the President at work, and I am the President of my own little corporation at home. I support him in his challenging job, and he supports me in mine. I do believe that "the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world"! I am caring for, teaching and nurturing children who will go out in the world and fulfill their own great destinies. I feel a huge responsibility to prepare them for what they will face in the future and to make sure that they have the ability/tools to handle whatever challenges life brings them. I have the greatest and most challenging job in the world!
