Hi, I'm Janalyn
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a mother of two wonderful little boys who love dirt, rocks, bugs, animals, and anything that their Dad does. I am lucky enough to stay home with them and watch them learn and grow. They are ages three and one and keep me on my toes.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because its real. The truth shared in our church is so real and tangible and anyone who seeks for a better more fulfilling life can have that when they participate in the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You can feel and sense the joy that comes from knowing why we are here on the Earth, where we were before we lived on this Earth, and what happens when we die. It is indescribable to know that we have a Savior who loves us so much that He gave His life for us so that we could live with our Father in Heaven again through the miraculous power of the atonement. Life doesn't come without its problems but through the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ those problems can be easier understood. The Gospel gives us a new perspective that changes the way we view life, the way we view our most cherished relationships, the way we view ourselves. To know that we are sons and daughters of God and that we too can be like Him. Thats how much God loves us. He wants us all to make the right choices, learn of Him and His Son, and progress through this life so that we can someday be righteous enough to walk into his presence and to dwell with Him for Eternity. Its with that hope and my faith that I live each day. That even though I make mistakes, if I repent, I can be forgiven and progress one step closer to becoming worthy to enter into His presence.
Personal Stories
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
The Book of Mormon is such a special book to me. The first time I read it was when I was 15 and I developed a great love for it since that time. It has blessed my life in many ways but the biggest blessing is the love and feeling of importance that I feel from my Father in Heaven. I can remember when I was about 16 and I was in the middle of the high school scene and was having troubles with friends and just not feeling all that great about myself. I got on my knees and I prayed to my Father in Heaven and told him of how I was feeling. Not a second later did I feel a warmth and peace come over me. It felt as though I was getting a hug from Heaven. I know that it was my Father in Heaven communicating His love to me through the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that God knows me so individually and that His love for me extends the reach of time. That is the message of the Gospel. That God loves you! He wants you to learn of Him, to be baptized, and receive the blessings that come from following his commandments so that one day He can hold you in his arms again as His beloved son or daughter as he says welcome home.
How I live my faith
My life would mean nothing without my faith. Through my faith I have been able to teach my children correct principles in hopes that they will grow up to be strong virtuous members of their families and communities. I teach sunday school to 6-7 year olds every Sunday and enjoy being involved and sharing my testimony with them. I am able to visit three women who are also of my same faith and together we strengthen each other's faith during our monthly visits.
