Janae: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Janae

I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a university student studying public health with an emphasis in epidemiology. I love what I study and am intrigued with the knowledge of preventing disease! I recently married and love doing fun things with my husband. I love every sport invented and enjoy being outdoors in rain, snow, sunshine, or under stars. I teach Spanish and love life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love it! Everything about it has brought me happiness and direction to my life. I am a Mormon because it's complete and makes sense! I grew up going to church and I've always liked it, but when I was about 12 years old I really started FEEL that everything I was being taught really was truth. I read the Book of Mormon and at a young age asked God to tell me if it was true. And it took some time, but as I continued to study and research, the Lord let me know that it was all true. As I shared it with other people my love for the restored gospel grew! You know when you taste something that is SOOOO good that you want everyone in the world to try it? That's how it is for me! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has truths that have been restored back to the earth and that is the greatest thing in the world. And that is why I am a Mormon!

Personal Stories

Can you talk about the missions of the Church and your participation in them?

If something is true and you know it's what has made your life happy, you want to share it with people. Missionaries are sent all over the world to share the gospel. They don't just share things that are good, but they share things that they feel are of utmost importance in every person's life. I served a mission in the McAllen, Texas area for a year and a half and sacrificed a lot to go. Missionaries don't get paid, they pay their way. Many people take 2 years out of their college years to go. During that time we are fully committed to the work and every day are seeking for people looking for truth. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life because I was able to share something that I know everyone needs. Now I teach missionaries before they go out. I teach those going spanish speaking and help them learn how to teach the gospel in Spanish.

What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?

I don't have my own family yet, but there are things that my parents did and I want to do the same with my children some day. First of all we followed the counsel of the prophet. The prophet has given what we call "For the Strength of Youth" and it encourages youth to be careful of what they watch, read, and do. That's what saves a lot of youth from pornography and helps them to find good friends.

I also think that the friendship I had with my parents and siblings kept unwanted things out. We had a good family relationship, but beyond that we were all best friends. I still consider my mom and dad two of my greatest friends. This kept us close to each other in that no one would want to disappoint the family and we could talk things through and we trusted each others' advice.

How I live my faith

My faith is my lifestyle. It directs my decisions and makes me a happy person. I work with missionaries in preparing them to teach the gospel in Spanish and I love it.
