Chat With a Mormon Online
My husband and son are everything to me. My husband is a law student and I get to stay home with our sweet baby boy. Our son was born with a heart condition and had open heart surgery at 5 days old. His life is a miracle to me and we are so grateful for him in our life. I graduated with a degree in Public Health. I still love my brownie, cookies, and ice cream, but I enjoy exercising and healthy living. I love ALL sports and will join in any pick-up game of volleyball, basketball, soccer, or frisbee. I love finding bargains, trying new recipes, meeting new people, and skyping with family across the country.
I am a Mormon because I love it! Everything about it has brought me happiness and direction to my life. I am a Mormon because the church is complete and makes sense. I grew up going to church and I've always liked it, but just as everyone, I had to experience my own personal conversion to it's teachings. I prayed and asked God, I studied the scriptures, and I researched its teachings. For a little bit I didn't know what exactly I was looking for, but it soon became clear to me that the Lord was indeed answering me and it was an obvious answer that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His true church. I knew because of how I felt and what I learned reading the Book of Mormon. I knew it because when I shared it with other people, my heart would warm up and I had a feeling of absolute surety that it was true. I am a mormon because the church has truths that were once lost and have been brought back to the earth to bless us.
If something is true and you know it's what has made your life happy, you want to share it with people. Missionaries are sent all over the world to share the gospel. They don't just share things that are good, but they share things that they feel are of utmost importance in EVERY person's life. In Biblical times the Lord sent missionaries to preach His pure gospel. He did it then and He does it now. The Lord sends missionaries to clarify the truth of the gospel and to preach the restored doctrines to all of God's children. Missionaries primary purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ. They are not seeking to baptize the world to make the church bigger. They are INVITING people to taste of the sweetness of the restored gospel. They feel that what they have to share is unique and special and everyone on earth deserves a chance to hear it because it will bring happiness, guidance, and salvation.
We are just starting out our family, so I haven't had much experience yet, but there are things that my parents did that I plan to do with my children. First of all we followed the counsel of the prophet. The prophet has given what we call "For the Strength of Youth" and it encourages youth to be careful of what they watch, read, and do. I believe that that counsel has saved many young people from the evils of the world. I also think that the friendship I had with my parents and siblings kept unwanted things out. We had good relationships with one another, but beyond that we were all best friends. I still consider my mom and dad two of my greatest friends. This kept us close to each other in that no one would want to disappoint the family and we could talk things through and we trusted each others' advice. The prophet has advised us to stay close to our family. My parents made our home a safe place from the world and it made me want to always be clean so I could feel comfortable in my home with my family.
My faith is truly part of everything I do. As a mother, it is my faith in the Jesus Christ that guides my daily parenting decisions. It helps me prioritize my life. By simply practicing the principles of the Gospel, I am better able to teach my son and be a support and friend to my husband. As I learn of the Savior's life, I try to live my life as He did. I strive to be a good neighbor and friend. I strive to serve those in need and help others find peace and happiness.
