I've been blessed to grow up in beautiful Oregon!! At any given moment I am most likely to be found dancing to the music in my head, and laughing about something. I LOVE PEOPLE, music, bright colors, and admiring all of the wonderful and exciting blessings the Lord manages to cram into life here on the earth!! It's such a blessing just to be able to experience life every day!!! LIFE IS RAD!!! I also really LOVE my sweet, hilarious family. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I've always been deeply interested in humanitarian work. In 2009 got to go on a humanitarian trip in Africa, it was AMAZING!! My ultimate ambition is to make the world a brighter place by sharing the happiness and love the Lord has given to me, with other people! Fun facts- I love bits and pieces of so many different kinds of music! My staples are Big band, Indie, Ska, 1960s music, Reggae, choice 80s music, and Relient K! I have a vintage dress collection, and an "ugly-sweater" collection.... Yes, I do wear them in public. I'm into exploring, painting, and photography, drawing, sewing, pottery, dancing (not that I'm good at it... haa)...
I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I love it. I've learned through experience that the things we learn in church are right. They always lead to happiness. The more involved I am with my religion, the better life becomes! I know that God wants us to be happy. He loves and cares for each person on the earth as an individual. He loves us because He created us. And so He shows us, through the gospel, exactly how we can live if we want to genuinely be the happiest we can be! Not only now, but even after this life. There aren't any missing 'puzzle pieces' or unanswered questions in the gospel. Everything is complete, and everything makes sense. I am so very grateful for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Joseph Smith is someone who I consider one of my heroes. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and as such He lived to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. He was the same kind of prophet that Moses was in the Old Testament. I've read a lot of accounts from all kinds of people who knew Joseph Smith personally, and I have seen the great things which have come from the work that he did in his lifetime. I have come to respect him sincerely as a person and a fellow follower of Christ. Joseph is the kind of person I try to be more like. He set a wonderful example to follow. He literally spent his entire life, as many other good people do, serving the Lord. He was selfless, and well known for always providing for any person in need. Joseph was friendly and outgoing, and he sincerely loved everyone. He always had an optimistic outlook on life. I've read from so many different accounts that he was always smiling and making everything that he was involved in fun for everyone around him. He always had something uplifting to say to everyone who crossed his path, even when he lived in the middle of bitter trials and struggles. I believe that is how Heavenly Father would have us live our lives too. He was an extremely hard worker. He came from humble circumstances, and that is how he lived until he died. He had a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ. He was a good man. Of course, Joseph Smith was not perfect, no human ever is. He did have many Christlike qualities and lived his life in a way that made his Heavenly Father happy. I know that the things Joseph Smith taught and claimed to be true are true. By the hand of God, Joseph translated the Book of Mormon, and helped to restore Christ's church in it's fullness. I am really excited to meet Joseph Smith someday after this life.
Jesus Christ is my Savior. Through Him, I am always able to hold on to hope. I have found so much happiness through every hard time, because of my faith in Jesus Christ. My faith in Him gives me reason to live to be the best I can. It takes away reason to fear and doubt. Faith in Jesus Christ is like the sunlight that eliminates shadows, illuminating everything it touches. EVERY BLESSING AND EVERY SINGLE GOOD THING I have and get to experience comes directly from my Heavenly Father. I am able to recognize that because of the faith I have in Christ. I love Him with all my heart.
Prayer is like my 'phone line' connecting me to the Lord. I get to 'call Him up' anytime and He is always there to listen to me. I talk to Him to get weight off of my chest, to receive help with my concerns and the questions I may have, to thank Him for the awesome world around me, or just to talk about whatever. He guides my life, gives me strength, and blesses me to feel His love. He is my friend, and I would be sad and lost if I couldn't talk with Him.
I LOVE church!! Sunday is my favorite day because it's the most peaceful, most uplifting day of the week! It's the day I get to spend time worshiping and learning about my God with lots of other people. There is something beautiful about a lot of people coming together to worship the Lord. I think that it makes Him happy. Church re-energizes my spirit. I feel extra close to the Lord when I'm at church. It helps me to have the strength, and to be prepared, to face the upcoming week. I learn so many important things in church every time I go there. Church is often a place where I gain whatever I need- friendship, advice, knowledge, peace, strength of spirit, comfort, etc. I'm so grateful for church!
I was baptized when I was eight years old. My dad baptized me in an L.D.S. chapel, and lots of our family and friends came to support me and to watch me be baptized. It was a happy day.
I hope that the way I live and the choices I make are a reflection of the gospel and the good that it does in my life. All of my friends know that I'm L.D.S. because I'm open about it. The gospel is so much of my life and such a huge part of who I am! I love the gospel!
Hopefully all of them. That's what I'm working toward. I especially love Jesus' love for other people. I try to love people the way He showed us to. I also love how close He was to His Father in Heaven. I try to follow the Savior's example to stay connected with Heavenly Father, and to spend time with Him often.
Each time you do something that you know God wants you to do you gain strength. Strength of character and strength to do the right thing again. Like practicing, you get better at making good choices when you make lots of good choices. I know that Heavenly Father is aware of all of the good things that each person does, and as we are working to do what's right He blesses us to find the strength, the courage, and the correct perspective to keep doing what is right, even when it seems hard. Once you've been making the right choices and you see all of the good that comes from it, you will really want to keep making good choices! It feels good to know that you've done what's right, and as you continue to do what's right that feeling gets better and better!
To give a little more back to the Lord! It is good to give Him a little more than just the everyday service we give Him. And to share the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ with the whole world! And to help people by doing some humanitarian work!
Most of the time, ‘living my faith’ isn’t a conscious choice, it’s just how I live. I try to show my faith by doing pretty basic everyday things. I’m grateful to the Lord for blessing me with life, and I try to reflect that gratitude in my actions by showing Him respect in all that I do. In the words I use, the things I participate in, the clothes I wear, and every part of my life. Each day I try to be a better person than I was the day before. (This does take a lot of conscious effort…) I like to share my testimony with other people, because the knowledge that the Lord has blessed me with is the best thing in my life. I want others to know about the things that bring so much goodness and happiness into my own life, so that they can have it too. That is why I'm going to serve a mission for the church- so I can do more to share my blessings with others. The Lord has loved me throughout my life, and through His love I have been blessed to love others. I believe that I am doing what anyone else would do when I try to stay aware of the good things I can do to help other people each day. One way that I do this is by paying tithing. God has given me all that I have, so I believe that it isn't mine to keep for myself. As I’ve come to know Him better, Heavenly Father has grown to be one of my very best friends, and I talk with Him throughout each day- sometimes in my thoughts and sometimes kneeling in prayer. I’m also grateful for the health that He has given to me, so I take good care of myself in every way that I can. I love to go to church, so it’s easy to end up there every weekend. Sometimes I help teach classes in church. For a while I taught the three and four year old kids during Sunday school. I really love spending time at the Temple and I go there whenever I get a chance to.
