I'm a husband, father of 4, and grandfather of 4.

Why I am a Mormon

I am so grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ in it's fullness found in His Church with all the blessings that accompany membership. I am a member because I know for myself through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live today and love us as they have loved all people throughout all time. They have given us prophets and apostles, the Book of Mormon, Bible, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and continuing revelation to teach us of our purpose on earth and how to live peaceful, happy, and productive lives. My greatest joy, my deepest peace, and true charity comes from living like the Savior did to the best of my mortal ability.

How has the Holy Ghost helped you?

The Holy Ghost has taught me the gospel, warned me of danger, confirmed when I've read, seen, or heard something true and important to my eternal well being, and comforted me during the hardest times of my life.

Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?

Everything Jesus did was the will of His Father. He did nothing but what His Father wanted him to do. I try every day to push my will aside to do the will of my Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

I currently serve by teaching a group of peers. I should say, I facilitate discussion as we all learn together and I'm taught as much or more as I may teach. I also help people learn how to find jobs as I serve as the Stake Employment Chairman. I home teach four great families. Home teaching is the way we care for one another in our local Church groups by visiting, teaching, and assisting any way we can. My greatest desire is to do what Heaven Father wants me to do.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Working as a volunteer out-of-town truck driver for the Mesa Bishops Storehouse has given me an opportunity to see and give service as part of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Orders are transmitted to the Bishops Store House where volunteers, each Monday morning, package and assemble orders for truck delivery to individuals or families in communities that are located several hundred miles from the Phoenix Metropolin area. The purpose of the Bishops Storehouse welfare services program is to assit those that are not able to purchase food or commodities with temporary assistance. As a volunteer, I feel blessed to see in action the welfare assistance program and the great blessing it is to individuals from order to delivery.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

This is one of the hardest subjects because in today's world the only accepted dialog is love or hate. We firmly decree that homosexual behavior is sinful. This does not speak to the individual, who they are or the feelings they have. Each of us face feelings and desires, some of which are contrary to the will of the Lord. This is one of them.

Our Heavenly Father does not judge us on these feelings, but how we act on them. If feelings are converted to behavior, then sin has been committed.

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution, one that God has intended to be shared between man and woman. We do not believe it is for us to redefine it, and as such would not support a change that would legitimize behavior believed to be sinful.

We love all of God's children. I have several friends who identify themselves as homosexuals. I consider them friends even though my beliefs hurt and frustrate them. I try to help them understand that I can love them and care about them while maintaining these beliefs. Likewise, I would always defend them against discrimination and bullying.
