Gennelyn Sandra: Family Loving, Hope Filled, Trusts in God, Knows my Purpose, Strong in the Faith, Daughter of God, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Gennelyn Sandra

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest daughter on 10 children, and have grown up in Sandy, UT. I love my family, and they are some of my very best friends. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all my life. I am working on earning a degree in Earth Sciences Education with a focus on Geology, and I hope to teach Secondary Science with my degree. I am a returned missionary of the Philippines Baguio Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love to read and sew, and cook and quilt. I am a homebody, and I love it. I enjoy camping and exploring the outdoors. Country life is the life for me.
I am devoted to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am dedicated to living by it's percepts.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints, but I feel that I truly became a member when I knew for myself that the doctrines taught were the word of God. I had been raised to believe, but when I turned 16, that is when I knew for myself and I no longer relied on my parents knowledge. I am a Mormon because I have no doubt in the truth of this Church and of its teachings. I know that Joseph Smith Jr. was called of God to restore Christ's gospel and church. I know that everything that I know and believe will bless me through out eternity. I have had a witness for my self that this is His church, and I can never deny that knowledge. I am a Mormon because I know that my Father in Heaven lives, as does Jesus Christ. I know that they love me, and I know that I will see them again. I am a Mormon because I know. It is hard to put into words the deepest feelings of my heart, but I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I choose to be a member of this chursh because I know it is true, and I will never deny that knowledge that my Savior has giver me.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

Why do Mormons go on missions? I think that I can more fully answer that question as Why did I go on my mission. I know that God loves me, and He loves every man, woman, and child on this Earth. The knowledge of the restored gosple gives me such peace and hope in my life. The knowledge of where I came from and of my purpose here on this Earth is what keeps me going every day. Because of the knowledge that I have and because of the love that I have, I want to share with the world.I want my brothers and sisters to have the samw joy that I have. I want them to know that God is their Father, and that He loves them. I want them to know their purpose on Earth, and to know where we are going. I need to share the love that I have in my heart with them. Just because I was born into the gosple and born into a family that were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints does not mean that it is only for me. The Gosple of Jesus Christ is for all people, regardless of race or nationality. It is not just for whites or blacks, it is for every single person, young or old. It applies to all lives and to all people. I went on my mission to bring my brothers and sisters home, and to show them the way. I served to bring them to a knowledge of their worth and of God's love for them.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

I truly believe that everyone of us are given special and unique gifts. We may see our talents as just being there, but they are in fact gifts from our Heavenly Father who loves us so much. I have been given an ability to write and to use words to express myself and my feelings. Because of this, those who read my words find meanings that I never planned on writing. They are able to find answers because it is God who at times directs my work. I absoutly know that He plays a huge role in my life, and He is always by my side.
Another talent that my Father in Heaven has given me is my love for music and my ability to sing. I would never claim to have an amazing voice, but I like it and it had been called 'a nice voice' on ocassion. But because I can sing, I have the ability to share my love of the Gosple of Jesus Christ and share my testimony through music. I believe that musis touches the soul and that as we listen, the Holy Ghost can teach our hearts and minds in a way that spoken words cannot. Now I am not saying that all music is this way. Goodness, I am not thinking about religion when I listen to U2 or Kelly Clarkson and the like. But when I am listening to music, or singing or playing music that is of religous nature, then I can be taught. And then I can help God bring peace to others because He wants to best for all of us.
I strive to inhance all of my talents so that I may better serve my brothers and sisters on this Earth and well as serve my God. My talents are His to direct to the benefit of those I meet.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day just by the things I do and say. Right now I am a missionary because I know that God Lives and that He loves us. I know that He has a plan for us and that He wants us to return to him. I am giving up 18 months of my life so I can share the love I have in my heart with my brothers and sisters in the Philippines. They, just like us, are Children of Our Heavenly Father. And He loves them. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is for all men, women, children of all races. I live my faith through my actions, and through the service I am willingly giving. I am so excited that I have been chosen to serve my Father in Heaven, and I love Him with all of my heart.
