Donna: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Donna

About Me

I have a great life. I have a husband and three children and three terrific grandchildren. My children are nearly grown, so I am facing changes in my life, as my focus turns from raising a family to supporting my adult children as they become independent and learning to "let go". I enjoy a few hobbies: quilting, family history, skiing, gardening and hiking. I would like to learn more about photography.

Why I am a Mormon

My family joined the church when I was 10 years old. I didn't truly understand all of the teachings, but I was so excited, and knew that this was something great to happen to me. As I look back on that day, nearly 36 years ago, I can still say that something great happened to me that day. Being baptized was a significant event in my life. It changed the way I lived, and what I looked forward to. I am grateful for courageous parents that made great sacrifices that I might have the blessings of the gospel. I know that we have a purpose here on earth, and that we have a loving Father in Heaven who wants us to return to Him, and will help us to be able to do that if we are obedient and faithful to His commandments. I find joy in living the gospel. I know that it will bring me the greatest happiness, no matter what circumstances life may bring.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We want to share the joy of the gospel with others. We believe that we are all children of God, and that He wants all of His children to return to Him. I also feel that missions are are great opportunity for members of the church to strengthen their individual testimonies as they serve others and study the gospel. My husband and one son have served missions, and this opportunity has strengthened them and made them better people. My youngest son is waiting to receive his call to serve. I look forward to having this opportunity to serve as well.

How I live my faith

I teach Adult Sunday School every other Sunday. I enjoy the opportunity this has given me to truly study the scriptures and learn from them. I enjoy the opportunity to take the lessons I learn as I prepare, and use them in my day to day life. I love the scriptures and make studying them part of my daily routine.

I am a Visiting Teacher. I have the opportunity to make new friends as I visit them each month and share and learn with them. By serving them, I learn to love them.
