Hi, I'm KaraLyn Louise
About Me
I am currently attending college and will be graduating soon! I am trying to find a full-time job in this economy and am planning on applying for law school in a year. I love just relaxing with my friends and family - doing almost anything - watching movies, chatting, playing games, whatever. I really enjoy boating, hiking and baseball. Go Red Sox!
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into a Mormon family and my parents have taught me the doctrine of Jesus Christ my whole life. I chose to be baptized when I was eight years old and continue to enjoy my faith today. As with any faith, being a Mormon can be hard sometimes in a world where believing in God is becoming less and less popular. But I have faith because of the many experiences in my life that have given me hope to believe in something bigger than myself. I have read the scriptures, prayed and lived according to the truths that Christ taught. As I have done those things, I have watched my life change. I can see my character grow stronger and my relationships with family and friends improve. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and that his gospel was restored through a modern prophet. As we live those truths we can be happy in this life and in the life to come.
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith was an ordinary man who was called of God to help Him restore His gospel to the earth. When Christ was on the earth, He had power to establish His church, perform miracles and teach true doctrine. Before He died He gave that power to His apostles. Their job was to go out and teach the gospel in Christ's name and by His authority. Because of personal choices and wickedness, Christ's church eventually became corrupt and His authority was taken away. In order for Christ's true church and authority to be again on the earth, He needed to give someone new this authority. That's why we use the term "Restoration" - God restored something that was lost. Joseph Smith was the instrument of this Restoration. He was called as a prophet for our time period and given the same authority that the apostles had in Christ's time. Through revelation Joseph Smith organized Christ's church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet because I read the Book of Mormon and I prayed. When I was 14 years old I prayed with I think a little more faith than usual. After I finished my prayer I waited to see if I would feel anything different. And I did. Although I had not specifically asked God to tell me that Joseph Smith was a prophet, He did. I felt in my heart, and the thought came to my mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. It was that simple, but it was powerful.
How I live my faith
Living my faith brings me a lot of comfort, stability and happiness. In our local congregation we have a "society" or group organized by and for women, called the Relief Society. This provides so much support as we visit and help each other to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. Every woman is assigned another woman in the ward to visit and serve throughout the year. Through these visits I have found great friends as they have shared with me their testimonies of Christ and helped me cope with the everyday problems of life.

Joseph Smith
As is the case throughout history God has communicated to His children through prophets. God used a humble man as a prophet to restore His Church on earth who ultimately died defending His faith.
