Hi, I'm April
I love belonging to a church I believe in.
About Me
Mother of two kids I love - 7 and 9
Married for close to 15 years!
I love to travel, explore, try new things and be active.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into the church. Many times the fact that I was born into the church has really made me question if it was true, so I have spent a lot of time studying and praying as to whether or not this church is true. Many many times I have had my prayers answered confirming I belong to the right church. Usually the answers come in peices, such as a confirmation that the principle of tithing is right or that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, or that prayer really works. All of these things peice together to confirm to me that I belong to the right church.
Personal Stories
How can we develop greater harmony in our homes?
Have you ever heard of the theory of reciprosity? My dad gave this advice to me when I got married and I think it's the best. When you are frustrated with your spouse it's easy to stop working as hard because they aren't. The trouble is your spouse may have thought they were giving 100% even though you only saw it as 60%. When your spouse sees you stop working as hard they stop working as hard. The better way to help your spouse be motivated is for you to give 110%. Your spouse will notice you are doing more and want to do more too. Trust me this works! Just give it a little time. Don't give up!
Could you talk about your baptism?
I was baptized when I was really young, but I still remember feeling the most incredible feeling when I came up out of the water. It was such a great experience and powerful enough I still remember the feeling now. My 8 year old son was baptized several months ago. Just recently I heard him talking to his friend who was about to be baptized. He told his friend when he was baptized he "felt like an angel going up to heaven". So sweet! I'm so glad my son was also able to feel that special sweet feeling too.
How I live my faith
I try to be honest in everything I do.
I teach my kids what I believe is important every chance I get through actions and words.
I try to help others all I can. It's hard to find balance in this area at times, but I do love helping others do things they can't do themselves.
I pray A LOT. Prayer is amazing. It works!
I act in faith and test the principles I learn in church.
I'm not always great at reading my scriptures on a regular basis, but when I do read regularly I notice a big difference in the way I feel.
