Lorraine: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Lorraine

"I live in Waco, Texas. I'm a wife and mother of four. I'm a Mormon."

About Me

I am a mom to four children, the youngest of which has hypoplastic left heart syndrome. I love music, reading, and foreign languages. I've been a Spanish teacher, a library volunteer, a tutor, and a songwriter. Now I'm learning about hearts.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents and grandparents are all members of the Church. As I grew up in a home where we read the scriptures, prayed together, attended Church, and learned about the gospel of Jesus Christ, I wanted to know for myself. I began reading the scriptures and praying on my own, and even when I left home for college I continued studying, praying, and attending Church meetings. I have come to know for myself that following the teachings of Jesus Christ and his living prophet bring me happiness and help me through my trials.

Personal Stories

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

As a mother, I think about what my children will experience as they grow. My greatest desire is to protect them, but I know that they will eventually have to learn and grow on their own. Since the are still small, I pray often that I will be able to teach them and help them have the desire to know Jesus Christ and live His gospel.

My prayers are being answered in that I feel comforted that Heavenly Father knows and loves them. I am also beginning to see how my children are responding to reading from the scriptures and praying together, and how they are following my example in wanting to pray and participate in Church classes.

How I live my faith

At church I'm responsible for the children's classes. I help teachers, music leaders, and parents. I love teaching the children that they can feel Heavenly Father's love for them, and that they can have faith in His Son, Jesus Christ, and using stories from the Bible and the Book of Mormon.

I also participate in a Mothering group about once a month. I meet with other mothers to talk about how to have peace in our home, how to teach children about gratitude and hard work, and how to follow the Savior's example as a mother.
