About Me

I'm a father of four grown children, 2 boys and 2 girls. My wife and I have the pleasure of 13 grandchildren. I have been an entrprenuer since opening a restaurant 30 years ago. Now I am a marketer and salesman as a partner in a start up company in the retail food arena with an ongoing business in the wellness industry.

Why I am a Mormon

My second son joined the Church upon graduation from high school, went to college for one year and then served a two year mission in Portugal. Almost immediately upon his return my wife was baptized but I was not interested or ready. However, after observing her faith in action and being invited numerous times to assorted church activities including Sacrament meetings (all of which I declined) she challenged me to read the Book of Mormon. The challenge was offerred in the form of a question, "How did I know what I was saying no to if I did not take the time to learn about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon?" We are a logical and educated couple and family and this challenge left me with no legitimate answer other than to hear out the missionaries and read the book. It took some time, but I have now been a member of the Church since September 2004 and my testimony grows stronger everyday. I believe the Book of Mormon to be true, to be the word of God and I believe that my life is fuller and more rewarding because of this belief.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Without question the fact both my wife and I are faithful members of the Church doing our best to live the principles and doctrines of Christ has created much more harmony in our marriage and overall relationship with each other.

How I live my faith

I never thought much about prayer previous to being baptized, but now I find solace, strength, energy, guidance and love from daily prayer. While attending all my church meetings and serving as well as possible in my calling I also try to live according to the gospel and commandments and be an example to others I come in contact with everyday.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a law of health given to us by a Heavenly Father for our physicial well being.

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

There are no restrictions based on race or color for anybody who can join the church. If you have a desire to come unto Christ and be baptized with the proper authority, no matter who you are and your racial background, you will be able to.
