Hi, I'm Jayne Lavee
I grew up in WY, have 4 kids, dog, and guinea pig, am LDS (Mormon), love music.
About Me
I love serving people, music, scrapbooking, the outdoors, baking, and making cards with my daughters, playing with my kids, reading, some crafts, and movies.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born into the church and grew up in the church. I didn't gain my own testimony until I was in my 20's. I believe that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and that he died for us. I know that the gospel is true and that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are true scripture. I have felt the promptings of the Holy Spirit in my life letting me know that what I was doing was right. The gospel has brought much joy and happiness into my life and I am so blessed to belong to this church.
Personal Stories
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
I have Stage 2 Brain cancer. I know that my family can be together forever in the eternities. It gives me great peace to know that this life is not the end, that I will be able to be with them again. I know where I was before I came to earth, why I am here and where I will go when I die. How awesome is that???
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
I start my day with prayer, without prayer, I feel like something is missing and it gives me a good start to the day. I usually read some scriptures in the morning also. I gain a good perspective if I read some verses from the Bible or Book of Mormon. Then, I get my kids to school, do household tasks or my errands and try to organize my life. :) On Tuesdays, I usually go to the Temple to do some worshiping and out to lunch with my friends. Then, later that evening I volunteer with the Young Women (Youth group) in my ward (congregation). We do service activities, learn gospel principles, have outings and hikes, work on personal goals, and just have fun! Sundays I have church meetings and Worship Services. I try to do some geneology work on that day and spend some more time with my kids. Oh yes, Monday night is reserved for family night. We have a gospel based lesson, sing a song, say prayer, and enjoy a treat. It is a fun time to be with the family! Overall, my weeks are pretty busy. It's hard to list everything that goes on in the week!
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
In 2008, I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Brain Cancer. I know that my prayers have been heard because I have pleaded with Heavenly Father to be as healthy as I can be throughout the rest of my life and that I will be able to raise my children. I have felt such peace, calm, and courage at this difficult time.
How I live my faith
I read scriptures, attend church regularly, pray to my Heavenly Father a Lot! I also volunteer with the Youth in my ward (congregation). People are very important to me and I love working with people of all ages. I try to behave as my Savior would have me do (be more Christlike). This is a difficult question to answer because I think that being a member of this faith is a way of life and there are many aspects of that.
