Laina: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Laina

I Love being ME! I love Life! and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing Roller Derby! I love pranking family and friends. I love having a good laugh, and making people laugh. I grew up in New Zealand. Becoming a member of the Church, it has changed my life so much! I love reading, love sleeping, love eating, love meeting new people.

Why I am a Mormon

I had never believed in a God. I always knew something was there. But never had a sure knowledge. I met my biological father 5 years ago. As I met him he introduced me to the Missionaries. I didnt believe at first what they told me. I found it hard to believe that such a God could care for people like us. However when I started to pray and to started to truely ponder what the Missionaries were saying. It began to stir within myself questions I had had unanswered throughout my life. I had been going to Church with my Dad and his family and saw how happy they were without anything of the world. I never knew such a happiness could exist without substance and worldy things. I wanted a piece of that Happiness. And as I started to read the bible and read about Jesus Christ I realised I had been longing for this happiness. This emptyness that I had felt throughout my life had seemed to be getting filled as I learnt about my Savior and about Him having a church on the earth and then restoring that same church back onto the earth in these days. I had began to stir that it caused so much confusion within me that I needed to put at rest these feelings and find out if the things the Missionaries were telling me were true or not.

One day I decided to fast and to pray as the Scriptures had pointed out to do. I had locked myself into my room told my Step Mum I was busy to please leave me be. I had the scriptures in front of me and the side of my bed. I read all the day long, and praying in my heart and also on my knees. I had needed to know the truth of these things. As I asked Heavenly Father if he would tell me if these things are true or not. I can never forget that feeling I recieved. I felt the warmth of the Sun shine through onto me and felt warm and snug. I felt at peace. I felt calm. I felt absolute. I felt filled. Not only once but throughout the whole day I felt those same feelings. That is when I knew it was true. I knew that the Book of Mormon was truely the word of God. I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who restored his Gospel onto the Earth today. I knew that Jesus really did walk this earth. He is the center of this Church. This is His Church. I knew that Heavenly Father would never leave His Children.

Today I still know those things. I know them without a doubt in this body I reside in. I know with everything I have it is true. It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His Church has been restored to the Earth. There is still hope. There is a prophet on the Earth today who speaks with God like in days of Old. The Book of Mormon was translated by the young boy Prophet Joseph Smith. I know Jesus Christ is real. He atoned for our sins so that we can live with Heavenly Father again. I know these things are true, because I have asked the Almighty Maker himself if these things are true. And he has answered yes. They are.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer in my life allows me to speak with my Father in Heaven about things sometimes I cannot speak with with those around me. It gives me an opportunity to communicate with Him and to tell Him how grateful I am for the things I have recieved. I know as I pray to my Father in Heaven its like I check in to see how my family is. He is literally my Father in Heaven. As I kneel down and tell him thanks for the many things He has done for me I feel at peace. As I ask for things it's like speaking with your parents. You know what you need and what better way to get it than to ask for it. And if it be in line with what He wants for you he will give it to you. Prayer in my life has been a major part in my life. I feel more connected with my Father in Heaven. I feel like I am constantly updating my Parents on whats been going on in my life. I love knowing that you can speak to someone about things and just listen for answers. That is the greatest part about prayer in my life. Is when he answers. Without doubt I testify he does answer prayers. Never has He let me down. Never have I been left to thinking. He has constantly answered my prayers. And I am grateful to have prayer in my life.
