Hi, I'm Ethan
I'm a firefighter. I'm a student. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a certified Wildland Firefighter. I love hard work and being in the mountains.
Some of my hobbies include my new car, a 2012 Subaru WRX, snowboarding, mountain biking, Jeeps, being in the mountains, fixing cars, computers especially Mac's, and lots more!
Why I am a Mormon
I am Mormon because I know this church to be the only true and living church upon the Earth. I know that it was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith. Through him the same church that Christ established while He was on the Earth is here again today. We have a modern day prophet that leads, guides, and directs the church today through revelation. I know that this is true because I have read the Book of Mormon. I have prayed about it and I have received my answer through the Holy Ghost. It has confirmed to me that the Book of Mormon truly is the word of God that was written by prophets here on the American Continent. Because the Book of Mormon is true, it is evidence that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God. By the power of God the Book of Mormon was translated. It is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. By living the principles taught with in it's covers we can become closer to God and live a better life.
Personal Stories
Why do Mormons go on missions?
We go on mission to follow the counsel given by Christ himself in Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." We serve out of the love that we have for Our Heavenly Father and Christ. We know the peace, love, joy, and happiness that comes from living His teachings and we want to share that with everyone.
How has attending Church services helped you?
Attending church helps more than I can believe. Before my mission I worked as a wildland firefighter and was unable to attend church for two months due to my work schedule and location. Before that I never thought that church was THAT important, but after not going for two months I really realized the importance of attending church. It is like filling your spiritual gas tank to go throughout the next week. If you don't go your tank gets lower and lower. After returning from a wildland fire I was able to attend and feel of the Spirit that is present during church.
Think about your everyday activities. What are things you act upon each day where you cannot see the end results? How does faith move you to action?
Faith drives most everyone to do anything. More then most people realize. Especially working people. People wake up in the morning and get ready to go to work to earn a living. People have faith that they are going to receive a paycheck at the end of the month. Having faith, or trusting in something as it is used in the Old Testament, moves all of us to action.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by teaching others about it. Serving as a missionary has been the best thing I have done in my life. I have felt the most joy, happiness, excitement, and love in my life while serving as a missionary. I have had times of disappointment, sadness, and discouragement while serving. But through diligence, faith, and hope things become better. As we always strive to do our best and do what our Heavenly Father would want us to do we are blessed.
