Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. When I was 8 years old I entered the waters of baptism into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints because I had a sweet and true knowledge that it was right.

My testimony has grown throughout my life. I recognize that the Lord has protected me from physical and spiritual harm my whole life and blessed me endlessly. I have had many spiritual confirmations as I study the scriptures, pray fervently to my Heavenly Father and learn more about his gospel, that it is undoubtedly, unwaveringly true.

I know that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that we have continuing revelation today and that President Thomas S. Monson is the Lord's mouthpiece on the earth.

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

As I try to put my faith in Jesus Christ every day, my life is blessed and guided infinitely more than how difficult a problem in my life may have been for me.

The greatest blessings that come through faith in Jesus Christ for me are not only forgiveness and deliverance from pain as I repent, but the ever growing understanding I have that my Savior, Jesus Christ loves me.

Every day I learn a little bit more about this perfect love Jesus has for me and all of God's children that I can never fully comprehend.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

I have read the Book of Mormon many times throughout my life. This year my husband and I decided to start reading again and really invest and commit to the teachings of this book.

We both had the same feelings of strength that came from this scripture study. This last year, reading the Book of Mormon has brought clarity, peace and answers into my life that I did not know could.

The Book of Mormon is one of the most important things that has brought me closer to God. It's teachings are beautifully simple and true.

I feel more with God everytime I read the Book of Mormon.

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

I am blessed to have a harmonious home with my husband. We try to implement the teachings of Jesus Christ in our marriage and family.

Praying day and night, reading scripture and listening to uplifting music bring calm and contentment into our home every day.

Though it is just my husband and I in our family right now, we have a "Family Home Evening" every Monday. It is an hour or so that we set aside to focus on strengthening our family.

During this time we usually read a scripture story, discuss a spiritual principle or other religious topic. We also include a hymn, a prayer and discussion about what is going on in our family.

It is so nice to just have this time already set aside. It may sounds like a chore - but it's not. Setting aside this time in our week was one of the best things we have done in our busy lives.

How I live my faith

Above all, I love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His restored gospel on the earth. It brings me the greatest joy I could ever know. It has protected and guided me for all my life. The gospel and the atonement of Jesus Christ has enabled me to get through rough times.

I pray daily and strive to study my scriptures. I also pray to my Heavenly Father continually in my heart asking Him for guidance and strength and thanking Him for my many blessings.

My daily participation in my church includes teaching gospel principles to the women in my congregation and attending church every Sunday. I love church!! It brings so much happiness and warmth to my soul. I love studying the scripture including the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes. Mormons definitely regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and believe it comes from God. My life has been blessed infinitely by studying its beautiful teachings.

As a convert I was concerned that the bible was replaced by the Book of Mormon. How far from the truth that concern was, as the Bible is the LDS primary teaching tool and the Book of Mormon is simply another testament of Jesus Christ and serves to verify the truths found in the Bible. Cerrtainly the Bible is Holy Scripture and the Word of God, as is the Book of Mormon. I have come to love the Book of Mormon and cross-reference the Bible and Book of Mormon finding the same truths in both volumes of scripture.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

In my opinion the real reason people say the Mormon Church is a cult because they don't understand. saying that it is a cult is an easy way to excuse themselves from learn more about it. Its like saying "sushi is slimy raw dead fish" or "computers are of the devil" its easy not to try / learn about stuff if you pair it with a negative word like "devil" or " slimy raw dead fish"
