Ash: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Ash

I'm a Mormon, below tells you why

About Me

I am the youngest of four children. Both my older brothers served a mission and I too served. I have been home for over two years now. I am married and have a beautiful daughter. I currently work full time and have a interest in music and film.

Why I am a Mormon

My Grandma joined the church and brought her children up in the church teachings. One of those was my Mum, she met my Dad when he was investigating the church and when he was baptized, they were married shortly after. They had 4 children, I being the youngest, and taught us values and principals that blessed ours lives. As any young person, I struggled with church type things as the world was calling out with all the temptations possible. Between the ages of 14 and 17 I went to church physically, but my heart and mind was not. It was only when I was asked if I would be serving a mission did I sit up and ask myself ''Do I really want to be part of this?''.

I followed the example of Joseph Smith and took my concerns and question to the Lord in prayer. I had a wonderful experience that changed my life. I can testify that prayer works and Heavenly Father is listening!

Serving a mission opened my eyes to things that matter. Coming closer to my Heavenly Father and closer to my earthly family too were at the forefront of my mind.

I came to know that God loves me, no matter my flaws, He loves me unconditionally and will always care for me. Only I can distance myself from Him. I live everyday striving to be a better husband, father, son, brother, and friend.

The Gospel has blessed my life in more ways than I can express. With that said, I am overwhelmed with gratitude toward my Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ for the sacrifice each gave.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Prayer is the essential practice for all who seek further comfort, encouragement, and enlightenment from God. It was not till I was on my mission that I understood and cherished the opportunity I had to kneel each morning and night and talk with my Heavenly Father.

I try to start each day letting my Heavenly Father know the things I am grateful for and the things I want to achieve that day. It helps me keep focus on righteous living and thoughts. To then, at the end of the day kneel, and in a way report that days activities, is a wonderful way to gauge my personal progress at being my better self.

Through prayer I have been able to ask the questions of my souls and have had the spirit confirm to me that God exists, that Joseph Smith was his prophet that restored the church and fulness of the Gospel. That the Book of Mormon is truly another testament of Jesus Christ and goes hand in hand with the Bible.

Experiment with prayer, try it and stick with it because you will not always get answers straight away, but you will get them!

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Ward Mission Leader in my ward. This means I work with the missionaries and make sure that the friends they bring to church are welcomed with love and looked after. I also help the members of the church be more involved with missionary work. This can be anything from sharing what they know with a friend, to inviting them over to be taught by the missionaries in their homes.

I also have a responsibility to visit members of the ward each month and I do this with another member. We visit 6 families/individuals and make sure that they are getting all the support they need as some are new members and can find things difficult at times.
