Tammy : Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tammy

I grew up in the United States, and have lived in Oklahoma all my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tammy and I have been a Morman for 34 years, and I am happy, and life is good !!!
I have been married for 27 years to my best friend. We have been blessed with four wonderful children that were born to us, and a few others that were born of our heart. We both have been working in the Education field for over 20 years. I love to read and do family history, garden, and find treasures at yard sales and thrift stories. I love spending time with my family and extended family, I am the happiest when we are all together.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when I was 14 years old. I grew up with loving kind parents who taught me wrong from right, but we never attended a church. As a child I had a great desire to attend church , and would go often with friends anytime I was invited. Attening many summer camps , and Vacation Bible schools. I loved learning of Jesus Christ and stories from the Holy Bible. I never joined any church , I could not find one that I truly felt where I belonged, and where all the pieces came together. In the fall of 1976 my mother lost her battle with cancer, and she left this earth. It was a very hard time for me. I often poured my heart out to my God , my Heavenly Father. It was not long after this time that a close family member started attending the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He told me that he had found the Saviors True church here on the earth. I had never heard those two words put together , church and true. I wanted to learn more , it really peaked my interest. As I attended church, I was welcome with open arms by the youth and the leaders there, and soon was attending their activities. I was also being taught by two young missionaries. They taught me about a kind and loving Heavenly Father that loved me. They also taught me where my mother had gone, and that I would see and be with her again. That through our Heavenly Fathers Temples here on Earth that I could be sealed to my mother and that I would always be her daughter. This meant so much to me. Well I was baptized into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints 34 years ago, on June 28 1976 a day that really changed my life. I finialy had my own church where I belonged, and felt at home, and answered all my questions about this life and the life to come. I know that Jesus Christ's church was restored to the earth, through the Prophet Joseph Smith and that we have been given the Book of Morman to help grow closer to our Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ. I know that that the Book of Morman is true scripture just as the Holy Bible is. I know those I love and hold so dearly my husband, children and other family members, will be a family together for all time and eternity. This knowledge brings me the greatest joy and peace . That my friends is why I am a Mormon.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons do family history or genealogy work?

Family History and genealogy work has been a big part of my life since I joined the church. Two years after joining the church I also lost my father at the young age of 16. It was only with the knowledge that I could be sealed to my parents in the Lords Holy Temples, made this trail in my life bearable. As a young women and a new convert to the church I was drawn by the spirit of Elijah to learn about my family members who had left this earth , Along with my parents I had lost so many members of my family. I stared writing and taking down information , and for many years worked on our family history and family line. It was one of the greatest days in my life when I was able to take a disk with 100's of family names to the temple along with my husband and children do the work for my family that they could not do for themselfs. What great joy it brought to me , to be able to help my deceased family members to also become a part of a forever family.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

I am so thankful for personal prayer where i am able to communite with my Heavenly Father each day, to be able to thank him for the blessings I recieve , and to plea to him with my worries and concerns To be able to pray for those I love , and to be able to ask for forgiveness for the things I have done wrong. I am so thankful for family prayer and that my husband and I can kneel with our children each day and communite with our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

My faith is a life style for me and my family, we live it each and every day. It has made us who we are. We live in a small town in the midwest where members of our faith are few and far between. If you ask anyone in our small community if they know anyone of our faith , they mostly likely would tell you , yes they know our family. We have always tired to share the happiness that our faith has brought us with people in our community. We have the missionaries in our home on a weekly basic and try to have friends not of our faith in your home so they can learn more about us and our faith. We have callings in our church they have given us opportunites to work with the youth and other to help organize events for our church. Our faith has been the corner stone of our marriage , and our childrens' lives. We have seen the blessings that it has brought to our family.
