Relief Society is the women's organization in the church. It is the largest womens organization in the world. Most people think of it as the meeting that the women go to during the 3rd hour of church. It is that, but it is more. We have other activities during the month designed to enrich all aspects of our lives. Most importantly the Relief Society is there to provide relief. We take care of the people in the ward and community who need help. The nature of women is to nurture, and that is what we do. It is a service organization. Each woman is assigned other women to "visit teach," where we should visit their homes and become friends, so we can know if a need arises that we can fulfill. I love the companionship that Relief Society provides. I spent a year in Iraq where there was a small group of other LDS service men. I was the only LDS sister there. The men there were strong and supportive, and I had other women friends in my unit, but there were no other women who shared my same values and goals. That is what I get from Relief Society. I missed it so much while I was gone and I am so grateful to have Relief Society in my life now.
